Well, as you know we were supposed to raceCinco de Baja Ultra4 in New Mexico but it was a struggle up until the day that we were to leave and we still did not get it right. The pictures will tell what a thousand words can not. I am taking the car back to tucson this weekend for a custom built racing harness and a stand alone computer.
I am really losing my motivation for this project not to mention all of my money.

Wow what a mess! This kind of explains why you were having troubles tracking down the problem. Thats good you are getting it all reworked.

That sucks. You might look into URDs UCON EMS. I run it with my TRD SC. It comes with a new t stat and cam timing gears. It can take on additional injectors as well.

Thats what i dealwith every day at work. Start with wires you dont need and remove them. Next take the wires you are sure you need and zip tie them together out of the way. Now take one wire at a time and figure out where it goes. It really is that easy. I wire airplanes and all of our wires are white. At least those are color coded, if you have a proper wiring print it should go pretty quick. Jeff if you have any questions give me a message i may be able to help.

Got the car back to TCR in Tucson over the weekend. At least the super duty ran good 80MPH air on full with it over 100 degrees most of the way.
Tim at TCR showed me the harness installed in a race buggy and it looked great only about 10 or 12 wires total along with the sensors and the computer. I Really Really hope it works!

I guess I should have called you during the crisis, We had people trying to chase down the problem day and night the week before we were supposed to race. Everybody just kept saying you need a new custom harness to get rid of all of this so that is what I am doing.

I decided to try and get this thing done right. Before the new harness is installed I am going to have the engine moved back 8-10". THis is something that I have wanted to do but just wasnt willing to take the time to do it. I knew that once I had the new harness I was going to do a sheetmetal dash with anew switch panel from the 12volt guy. And then figured that if I moved the engine back later I would need to re do the dash again. so this way The dash will be permanent and attached to the new fire wall. Once this is done and the engine is out of the way of the front suspension. We will be able to get all of the up travel we need which will help alot in the woops and will move the COG back some. I think this will make a big difference.
THis is absolutly the last mod!

Dude I been following your build since the bigening Nice truck but, rip off all that wiring harness and computer crap and get a mechanical Diesel Engine Like Nissan Patrol or Toyota Landcruiser and forget the rest...

I agree with getting rid of the computer and all of the other crap. That is what we are doing, except there will be a programable computer that is very simple with out all of the extra stuff.

As far as an engine swap, yes I probably should have done that along time ago. I guess there is something kind of cool about keeping the stock engine. Once
I get the engine moved back and the front suspension redone, I will see how it performs, If I'm happywith it I may go with an LS engine but will probably save that for the buggy when I get some extra money.

Update/She is running!

Believe it or not she started with the first turn of the key. It is almost like she was waiting for this system.

Madog the SDS system is what I put in my buddies ftoy http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...=976492&page=2 and what is in the Marlin Crawler x chassis. Couple of suggestions, mount a spare relay right next to the one you are using. If you have a relay failure you can switch to the spare really quick.

Keep the SDS controller plugged in and mounted in the car. That way you have it if something goes wrong. Put in a air fuel meter so you can watch how rich or lean it is running.

I would switch over to circuit breakers instead of fuses. It is a little expensive but will pay off the first time you are trouble shooting on the side of the race course and run out of fuses before you find the problem. Circuit breakers can be reset over and over.

I would also put a bulkhead connector at the fire wall instead of the wires running through a gromet like that. I'd also put a relay pig tail connector on those wires so nothing gets crossed if a relay swap is required. Looks really nice though.

Jeff, are you going to summit? Also, I know you wheeled some rough trails in Montross that I am certainly not equipped for. I am going there for a couple of days before summit and wanted to know if you know of some challenging trails there that are more suitable for a rig like mine (34" tires, lockers front and rear, Dana 60 in rear, RCV CVs in front, atlas and a winch)?

Montrose

I will not be going this year.Montrose has some great trails all harder than Ouray but some that are within your rigs capabilities. THere is a trail guide for that area, not sure if it is in book form or online I will try to find it. I was going to take ny 40 to the summitt this year but it will not be ready either.
