I have been anticipating doing this build thread for some time now and as the time draws near for our press release and KOH is on the horizon I believe that the moment is right. I will begin with some of the current specs and then go back to when we started the actual race build and go from there.

Someone asked if my goal was to be really serious or just finish the race. You know that you have to be serious to just finish the race,in our case we have to be serious to qualify in the LCQ which also aswers the question about us buying our way in. Let me just say that we are going to drive like hell and this thing better hold together.
Even though we already had the rear cage complete it wasnt suitable for the new suspension that we had in mind and the frame was in the way so out with the not so old. ![]() ![]() ![]() This picture is of some of the preliminary cage and suspension work, we needed to get the shocks farther out on the axle and make room for the bypass. THis set up also allowed for alot more options with the configuration of the links.

Pictures of the link connections to the frame.
![]() This is the adjustable upper ![]() Since we are planning on running different sized tires depending on the style of race the triangulation was difficult. The KOH is a tough one because you would want your #'s to be different for the rocks than in the desert but you have to accomodate both. As far as tire size we will be running 40's for KOH and as small as 35's for Reno to Vegas. So you pretty much need to come up with something that is not the best for either but is still good for both. Last edited by Mad Dog 1; 11-16-2011 at 01:28 PM. |

Getting the fuel cell back in.This is a 12Gal.Cell which even for KOH is probably a little small but would work because of the pit locations but for something like the Reno to Vegas race we will need more but I wont be sure how much more until we see what kind of millage we are getting in the desert at speed. I think for KOH we can plan on about 5 MPG.

Subscribed. Cool to see there will be a full-body (mostly?) Toyota in the race. Good luck!

update
Here are afew shots after she got back on her feet and headed for Tucson.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Before we start the front end we needed to get all of the engine mods done and relocate all of the electrical from the engine compartment. This will all be done at performance Toyota in tucson. Tim there is known for building some of the best toyota racing engines in the industry and has alraedy installed a T400 on an FJ Cruiser so he was my choice to do our work. He will be installing the T400 Tranny and TRD Super Charger, fuel rails injectors ect. He will also be moving all of the elctrical and installing a pigggy back programing unit. Wow, interesting. I hope you do the lcq and get in legitimately unlike that giant trail plug the poison spyder jk I had to drag that thing outta the way just to keep traffic flowing. Thank god we are qualifying for start position this year. Oh and BTW its Vegas to Reno, not reno to Vegas. Good luck.

We are in LCQ , I wanted to pre qualify in one of last years races but just couldnt get this thing done in time. I wouldnt get into the race any other way, and I guarantee nobody will be draging us out of the way. |

Something else to think about...I don't think V2R was an Ultra4 race this year. I could be wrong but it deffinately was not a qualifier. 2012 may be different.
