All that fancy work and you splice the front hoop/light bar?
Really? Hopefully I am missing the reason you did that.

Yeah that way I can put the tube exactly where I want it without wasting any. Is there a problem with that? Don't try to say its weak.

Cool your jets there man.
I just figured that someone with your skillset would be able to work the tube for a simple 2 bend piece like that pretty easily and not be worried about any waste. No, I was not referring to it being weak. A splice like that on the front of the fj, no matter how well you think you are going to blend it, will still be noticeable. Just saying. Unless of course you powdercoat it.

I could definitely bend a piece of tube twice to fit on the bumper, but I really wasn't sure what shape/location I wanted until I saw the tube up there. By building it out of two pieces, you can really see all your options better, rather than scrapping a piece of tube. There is a 3/4" radius all the way around the top of the bumper, which I figured out I wanted to land the tube perfectly on, right where the break in the bumper is. If I was 1/8" off, it wouldn't look right. Over the years, I just realized that splicing tubes like this helps me be more precise, without wasting material. It's just the way I do things, nobody has to agree with it, other than my customers. Blending a splice to be invisible is not hard, just takes a few steps. The key is to use a file, much like using a block on the side of a fender. Although pictures don't do it justice, I'll post a pic once it's cleaned up, you won't be able to tell its there.

Looking good Dave. That Shrock bumper is nice. I love the one on my Tacoma. I still need to swing by and check out the shop.

Sorry, forgot about them. More structure to come once we build the interior cage.
