Formula toy's with carbs. help!

Could someone running a stock carb, (hobie?) post some pics of what vacuum
hoses they needed to get their truck to run. I have all the basic smog stuff still on it its out of an 87 pickup (no smog pump), debating if I should strip it all down or just hook up the parts that were on the fender etc it needs to run like stock back on.

What was the computer for? just emmisions?

I'm getting down to crunch time and still have a fair bit to do mostly wiring and getting the damn thing running.

Anything that could save me some time figuring it out on my own would be appreciated...

okay,
disconnect all that smog crap. there should be 4 wires coming from the carb. hook 1 of them up to ground and the other 3 up to hot. if you dont, it wont run right. (one of the black ones is a hot wire, the other black is ground)

plug up all other vacuum lines. BUT, the timing advanced. that has to be plugged into the side of the carb.

vent the carb and put a pressure regulator on it and you are good to go.

It looks like tow of the wires go to the choke on mine and 2 to the other solenoid thing. Wouldn't that make it 2 hots and 2 grounds? my haynes manual doesn't have the wiring diagram for that carb, just the efi setup.

nope. 3 hot. 1 ground. i had it wired up that way for a year. then i had a pro come and wire up my buggy. he wired it up the way you said and it didnt run right, i found that he had done that, when i switched it back. it ran great.

interesting... I wonder if that solenoid is actaully on or off? does it run any different when those wires are disconnected? IfI can find a wiring diagram...I wouldn't mind seeing what its actually doing.

fawk it...I'll just hook them up all up...is the one ground off the choke?

for anybody who wants to know the third all black wire is for the outer vent on the carb...when the truck is off it opens and lets fumes from the carb down and into the charcoal cannister (or viceversa not sure really which way it goes)

The choke is self grounded and only has a hot wire coming off it, the fuel cut off solenoid has two wires, one ground and one hot.
