picked up X-chassis #32 last week at the hammers

Had a few problems getting there, check valve for smog pump went bad and blew out the hose causing a small engine fire. Made a small trip to dezert hot springs and got a 1/2in gas pipe cap and solved that one for the time being.

Got there a little late so I didnt get to meet Mike but Mustard Dogg was there so it was cool checking out his rig and getting ideas. So my x-chassis is pretty much a hibrid because I had mike leave out the front floor tubing so its external dimensions are an x-chassis and its got an x-chassis s/n but its front end looks more like a formula chassis. Reason for that is Im going to reuse the front half of the frame back to the mounting location for the frame connection for the 4-link so I can reuse the motormounts and t-case mounts as well as steering location and Im going to use leafs for a while in front until i can afford to link the front. I've got a tweaked back right now so my chassis will be sitting in the garage for a while but I'll slowly continue taking the donor apart.

Anyways here are some pics of the chassis, its primered because things rust here pretty fast.

Here is pic of my donor truck with bed ripped off so i can finish the 4 link in the rear.

I am not going to pollute your post with my pix. But I didn't pretty much the same thing. I used the front portion of an early Bronco. They I made my own rear sub frame and rear suspension. This allowed me to keep the front suspension and engine mounts. Which saved me lots of $$

absolutely, give it a day and it will have necklaces, chalk, carebears and dora the explorer crap all over it.

I saw your buildup, I was actually looking for a bronco to do the same but they were all expensive and rusted to hell. And no one wanted to buy my truck so I decided to build it instead. Your build actually inspired me to order my chassis the way i did, I originally called mike and asked him if he could customize a formula for me, but he said no but what i could do is order an x-chassis and he could leave out the front part of the frame, saving me money on the chassis and other stuff from being ablke to reuse a lot of my factory parts.

I ordered 4 more 1 1/4 bungs for my 4 link from BTF, as well as a 14 bolt axle truss.

On the way home Im picking up the 2 in 1/4 DOM for my link arms and 4 more 2.5in johnny joints from john at Currie.

Here is a picture of an older model truss on a truck

And here is a computer image of the newer style one.
