Formula NISSAN ?
Nissan is backing this & I think Steve at Cal Mini too. I know Hendrix is building the chassis IE CAGE, same as the F-Toys I was told. Been told CAMO knows about it. I'll be building some sort of switch panels for the 1st ones. They are building 2 from new Xterrias, a 4 & a 6cylinder Anyone else hear about these?

Formula Nissan
The plan is pretty straight forward. Build a spec rig as per the rules for Formula Toyotas only use a Nissan. The hope is to expand an already great idea with regard to this class, and who knows what the future may hold for spec rigs. Please read congratulations with what you’ve done for the sports, we’re simply hoping to complement that effort by introducing our version of a Formula Spec Rig under a different brand.
So far I have few specific details about the build, yet I can tell you Seabass44 is correct that a roller from Nissan has been acquired where a Hendrix cage will be attached at Calmini in Bakersfield. Once this has happened the car will make its way to New Mexico for further and final assy. We welcome input and appreciate the fair opportunity to compete.

I'm not really sure what I think about this. If you have a Nissan engine but Toy axles, dual cases etc then why even bother with the Nissan engine? Availibility seems better on the Toy stuff. Certainly there are a lot more parts already on the market that favor the Toy over the Nissan. I don't really get it but I guess it's cool if that's what dude wants to build I say go for it. I'd like to see how it comes out.

no toyota parts other then birfields they are using nissan motor, rear & trans & case, & looking at a custom front housing with birfield balls, using nissan chunks? I'll let him give any other details, I'm going to stay out of the rest, just bringing it up to see where it goes.

I think I'm gonna start another cool class. Ever see one of these things wheel. Kia Sorento's are the shiat.
Man they would wheel even better if you ditched the body, running gear, and kept the engine. Threw a whole bunch of Toyota stuff on it and you've got yourself a Kia class.

Gotta admit those things are fun to thrash.

Ive only seen one nissan on the trail ever. It was the owner of cal mini, and wasnt even a trail, it was the gorman rock pile and he was stuck and broke.
Sounds like a fun build, to build somthing different, but I highly doubt theres enough nissan guys out there to start a class. Just look at the nissan forum here. It will have 4 people on it, toyota forum will have 130. You would have better luck making formula scouts. Sounds like more of a marketing plan for cal mini to sell nissan parts to me. Nothing wrong with that though. I like nissan, well Datsuns at least. |

I like the idea. I wa contacted about this and asked about adding them right to the F-Toy Class. Well, since I don't have control over the class (just provide a venue for them to run) I suggested they talk to the board. I see no reason to discourage anyone from getting involved at what ever level they wish.
