Any east coasters got a laptop at Harlan
I would love to see what I am missing.
Especially since I stayed home to compete and they are calling for rain, t storms, and tornados all day tommorrow. One positive??????????? The park says the comps go on rain or shine. |

Drove all night to get here at 7am then slept a few hours. Met up with Ronnie from here in Harlan and John Robertson from Trail Gear with some of our crew. Rained all day on top of tons of rain that they have had recently.......it was nasty. Mud everywhere, rivers of muddy water runnning down the trails. So much water running down Lower Damnation we could have kayaked it! It was hardly recognizable but we hit it anyway! Hobie sorry about the rig. I'm sure I can fix it. I don't think TG John knows exactly how to handle this snot but it appeared that by the end of the day he was getting the hang of it. This stuff just has zero traction. Something snapped in the right front on the first big ledge of Lower Damnation. I'll check it out in the morning when hopefully it won't be raining. I didn't get any pics because my cheap camera would fry if it got a couple rain drops on it. I'll get some pics tommorrow. There are a LOT of rigs here and when we were headed back to Harlan to get cleaned up and eat there was a steady stream of rigs on haulers coming in. Tomorrow should be real muddy but not raining however the forecast for tonight is helladamnrain. Good times!!
My rig is working great with the new Trail Gear suspension in spite of the nasty conditions. Much better flex and control with the TG 5" springs and the extra ground clearence of the rear axle housing is very noticable. Good luck at the comp.

I think I wish I was there.
Our comp conditions were about the same. In my class there was an 8 way tie for last place. One toyota truck on boggers was able to clear two gates on one run for a total score of 60 points he got a dnf on the other run. He ended up with first place for the day. The other 8 rigs got a dnf or pointed out on all runs. We are still holding first place by 20 points. Glad to hear the TG springs are working good. As my springs wear out (very soon) that will be my next move. Were you able to bolt them in the same place the AP 3" buggy springs were mounted? Last edited by ftoy507; 04-05-2008 at 05:09 PM. |

No I reworked all the mounts. I had to extend the front spacing to 45" and shortened the rear to a little shorter wb.

Here's a morning pic at the first stop waterfall. Not too sloppy yet.

Total slopfest all the way around to Mason Jar. I think this was the worst trail in the park. I couldn't stand up here much less drive it! I'll admit I had to winch. Oh and it started to rain just when we entered the trail. Here Doug drops the first ledge on Mason Jar.

Cold, foggy, spooky. I would not want to be out here alone at night.

The Irok tires worked much better in this stuff than my Trxus and they still had to apply ample throttle to get thru this stuff. Ricky gettin down on it to get up this snotty ledge.
John B. you missed it! ![]() ![]() You'd have been proud of your dad. He startin to learn what wide open means!

Very nice. It looks like an overall good time.
I expected to see several trucks in the background. Did the rain hold back attendance or is the park so large you were all spread out? Last time we were there trucks were everywhere and it was not an event weekend. |

I can say this was one of those events that we'll be talking about for a while. I just spent $5 at the local car wash just to get my rig clean enough to put in the trailer! Now we head home and completely tear it apart for clean up, maintainence and button up a few loose ends before Hannibal. The raffle was a good success with many happy drivers walking away with some serious loot from all the generous vendors. They stood out in the rain for an hour to wait on the raffle to start but nobody complained. Gotta love those East coasters!!! Thanks Ronnie for the invite and all the local club members for making this event successful despite the foul weather.

![]() It was pouring rain when we went up though. 2 rigs with Iroks did ok but my Trxus definitely aren't mud friendly.

Yes. It was the only way to get to the falls part without diffing out on the big loose rock in the center. Every rig that was there had to use that line. Even a monster d60'd rear steer Sami.

That's a tough question. Few hundred at least. You know they're all so strung out camping all over the place and on the other side of the mountain it's hard to figure. Good weather would have doubled the number of trucks. I thought ya'll had that under control?!
Maybe next year do some sort of free raffle if you come by the signup area and check in. Just have a signup sheet with name, phone number, city state ?That'll give you an accurate count without having to charge entry fee.

where was everyone hiding? Went by fri night and the blue f-toy was broke but couldn't find you. Didn't see anyone at the raffle either. Everyones f-toy looked great. Taters buggie did awesome. Went up everything we did. lions den and mason jar on sat was nasty. Tater was the only one in are group to make it. My p-steering went out half way, so i had to come out with nothing(my wrists still hurt)had a great time though
that new rock at the beginning of grace was awesome too
