Trail Lexus
did some work on a friends lx450, he brought it over bone stock.
rear- 4" HD slee coils with bilstein remote res 2.0's, extended sway bar links, 4" panhard raise at the axle, 5.29 with factory e-locker front- 4" lift with custom 3 link, 2.5 remote res fox coilovers, raised panhard at axle, relocated frame panhard mount to behind the sector shaft to make room for hellfire fabworks high steer HD knuckles and arms, 5.29's with factory e-locker. front axle pushed forward 1.5" all heims, panhard brackets, link mounts and tabs are from ruffstuff. i'm a ruffstuff dealer because i fully believe in their parts and their awesome customer service. their prices are pretty good too, pm me for a quote! 4x4labs rear swing out bumper. sliders and front bumper are from Bump it Offraod. sitting on 37's with 6" uptravel and 6" down. this thing rides like a caddy and is fun to drive. i want one now.

i've been told that hellfire fabworks knuckles wont work on fj80's due to panhard clearance issues. with a 4" or more lift, the panhard SHOULD be raised, and raising it at the axle will create bumpsteer with factory steering, so with highsteer it works out perfect, just the way it should be.
![]() panhard relocation was by far the easiest part of this build. a lot of fj80 guys are happy with factory front suspsension and steering, mostly because it works for them and they haven't driven this rig to know what they are missing.

Sweet Lexus! Nice to see a "lux brand" expedition rig. I won't be surprised if people attach your rear panhard mount a little... Since it isn't real pretty. But as long as it is sturdy!
I wish I had 6" of uptravel! That must take bumps great at speed.

Badass Billy! Let's see some pics of the upper coilover mounts, I'm curious how you did them.

thanks. i forgot to get pics of the shock towers and the cross bar. the tower on the passenger side was right where the old air box was, so it was kicked to the curb and replaced with a k&n style filter. the drivers side needed some brake lines pushed out of the way, but it all fit in there fine.

Have had an 80/450 itch to scratch and this is a perfect example of my intentions. Builds like this keep my nose in the classifieds, looking for a deprived soccer mom's leftovers, where I shouldn't be. Thanks. Haha.
Nice work, no doubt. Last edited by 銀チタン; 02-26-2012 at 11:13 AM. |

I should raise my rear panhard like u did. I only have slees 4" kit and i dont ever feel the swing/arch of it when it compresses, but ive got room/clearance to make it totally flat at ride height.
Nice work btw! I like the front bumper too, most of the tube bumpers ive seen on 80s look like ass, imo.

I really like the mods done to the front end, a lot. Can you give some feedback though as to how it handles on road? As well as how it handles at speed off road compared to the stock radius arm set up?

these were made first batch, and machined for abs per this rig 2 months ago. you will be getting some shipped within 10 days though! ![]() Quote:
) love to drive this. they both say that it handles better than their fj100.i'll take their word for it since i have road tested it myself to break in the gears. it was the road test along with the back yard test that made me want one for myself. it will happen some day. but not until gas prices come back down.

Love it, especially the murdered out look too.
If it's going to see some hard wheeling action in rocky areas, a front diff protector might be a worthwhile investment (I could be wrong, but that looks like the stock front diff cover). |
