Anyone got any pictures of a rear swing out door, tail gate conversion to inspire me with. I want to convert my swing out doors into a tail gate.

Not quite a stock rear swing out door. But here is my tail gate I made. Not fancy but it works. Sorry about all the dust and filler on it, started body work tonight.

Nice, yea swing outs welded together. I have to fix the bottom of one its all rusted out. Texican, what did you do for hinges?

Yeah my FJ didnt come with a tail gate. I made that with some 1x1" square tube for the frame, then put a piece of 16 gauge inside the frame that I had bent up so the center of the tailgate sits about 3/4" recessed. I just got the chains and stop on it yesterday. I sit on it and bounced up and down a little and it held fine, and I weigh 190 lbs. I would love to have found a truck tailgate with the toyota stamped into it. I would have loved to find a stamped toyota tail gate and used that for the center. Like this

Not mine, one of our club members, it's fer sale, so I don't know I got the pix off of his ad in our forum, just remembered it when I saw his question.....

I welded my stock swing outs and remounted my stock hinges down low for the tailgate. if I was home, i would take a pic.

I did the same, pics are around here somewhere. I'll take a few pics tomarrow when I get time. One of the best "mods" I think I've done, a tailgate is very handy
