Nice field find, and the event placards are great. Any idea how many years it was in that field? It doesn't look like arid desert based on the grass, and the truck looks really rust free by Eastern rust standards.

I have not seen any but there are more badges and stickers on it. For sure a California Association of 4x4 clubs sticker. I will look again, lots of faded stuff.

I would be trying to keep it as period correct as i could! But thats just me, i like oldschool cool! A modern efi alloy v8 would kill it.

What V8 did it have in it back in the 60s out of interest?

I am not sure of his name but he makes the reproduction hubcaps.

Nah, I cant stand shitty old carbs. If it's mine its gotta be a newer V8. I understand your point but I am a huge genIII fan. Maybe I will keep the SM420 in it
Another stance would be this... The original owner brought this thing home from the dealer and pulled the f motor, 3 speed and Tcase. He put in what he needed to race it. I think he would like the update. I want to do him and his family proud. It means a lot to me and I know his family is excited to see it back out there being used and enjoyed.

Killer find! You cant keep the original title,so hold onto it,otherwise dmv will take it!Just file for lost pink,or if it is out of the system,you start fresh anyway.Where is this truck now?It obviously was a california truck for many years.I have a bunch of old four wheeler magazines from the 60's with event coverage,I swear I remember seeing a 45 with that rollbar!! I will start digging and let you know,how cool would that be!!

Yes it was a ca truck for the bulk of its life. The title and the plates are ca still to this day. The owner had a ranch in south central Oregon and that is where it spent its later years. The last time it was registered was 1978 in ca. I am sure they used it on the Oregon ranch but I think it has been sitting for at least 25 years.

So what are you going ot do with the other Baja 45? I like teh idea of updating it. Will you plan to run the desert in this, or build it for crawling? If you want to run the desert, then why not link the rear with some 3 way byass Fox setup. Then do a long travel front that can handle the whoops of the desert.

Wilson, I don't know if 550hp is enough for this thing. You may want to turn that up... just a bit.
