Talk to me about Aqualu
What's the concensus on Aqualu?
Thinking about scrapping the 45 tub on 80 chassis idea and doing a stretched 40 tub on the 80 chassis similar in appearance to Lance from Iron Pig's FZJ40 and DoubleXL's "going big FJ40". After debating how to go about doing the tub, the thought of just ordering one and having it show up is mighty appealing

I would use one of there tubs if you don't want to worry about rust and are not doing a resto, and just don't have the time and or fab skillz. Last I heard Todd was looking for a place to set up down in the states to ease shipping. Not sure if it's still happening or not. To me there product has been great.

I can tell you first hand that their product is tough as hell, fits well and is all around quality. I beat the hell out of mine and it still looks great. Its light, I could take it on and off by my self! If I was building a wheeler full figured Cruiser thats the way to go.

Aqualu tubs are seriously tough and worth the money. BTW, mine is a first generation, 17 years old.

I know this is my first post here on Pirate, but I've been on IH8MUD for a while now. My stretched 75 40 uses an Aqualu stretched tub and all I have to say is that their work is very nice. Being able to weld aluminum like that is an art. My only complaint would be the tranny cover fitting the stock firewall, but I've gotten rid of it because of my drivetrain setup not fitting with the cover.

What is the going rate for a back section? I've been kicking around asking my cousin to build me one. He runs a company building tool boxes, utility bodies and boats in Medford.

There's a pretty detailed price list on aqualu's website, but they're basically in the range of 3k for a standard 3/4 tub(firewall back) to 8k for a full stretched body including the firewall/windshield frame and rear 3/4 tub.

My buddy had a 40 with an Aqualu tub (I actually owned it for a while too). It was stuper tough and thick material. I liked it, and the factory hard top and doors fit well.
