Cage A-pillars through the dash?
Did some searching and can't find a single solitary example of anyone who has done this on a 40. Either my searching sucks, or there's a good reason for it. Someone please enlighten me.

Are you using the windshield & frame? If you go thru the dash you'll end up at the upward slope of the floorboard. There's plenty of room to hug the dash & terminate it just inside where the kick vent is located. Depending on how you bend it, it won't impede entry. You could french it into the dash & keep the bar visible.

This is the cleanest execution I've seen yet. I really like it! I'm still thinking of going straight through the dash, or doing some combination of narrowing/coping the dash to allow the tube to pass by.

We did it on the cream puff. Basically went thru the dash so you can use the window crank without hitting your knuckles

I did this on my cruiser, had to remove the hinges. Also you can't remove the cage. The guy who built my cage wanted to build it that way so he could rake the windshield back a little further than stock. Since I no longer have a stock windshield frame I just used a piece of lexan.

usmcruiser post of the yellow cruiser is what I have seen done before & what I am doing with mine. To me this is the cleanest & most factory look & the strongest A pillar tube setup.

Here is a pic with the lexan, it is just bolted on with some trick tabs. It will not work with a stock soft top. I took a bikini top and put some grommets like are around the edge of a tarp then zip tie it all the way around.

Can you make it smaller and grainier? It's a little too clear right now
![]() I think that looks like exactly what I want to do, but I'm not quite positive since the picture is tiny

If I dont make up my mind on the direction I want to go with building my 40 it will never get done..I've had it 80 percent done and cut back apart 3X since the build began![]() Anyway I really like the tubework you have goin on.. it looks clean and simple and now that I've seen the sideshot I like it even more ![]() Are you building for general trail usage or do you have plans of racing/competing with it and will it have any of the stock frame when it is done?? Thanks again for the side shot!! |
