If it has CVs in the knuckle - yes. If it has ball joints in the knuckle - no. I think they changed over somewhere around 68 or 69; others will confirm this. If you can, get the whole 78 front axle assembly and swap that in. It can be done in a few hours with much less mess.

Your 69; should be a birf style axle. So yes the parts will swap. It would be easier to just swap the enire DB axle. And unless you already have the 78', look for a 79' and newer axle to get the larger bolt pattern. That way you can run hy-steer...
