60 series split transfer case question.

Hey all i have a question about the toyota 60 series split transfer cases.i have done alot of mechanical work in my time. but only recently got into offroading so i have never pulled a transfer case apart. i have a r151f gearbox which is mated to a vacuum operated 40/60 series style split transfer with a (38mm) idiler shaft. now i have always wanted reduction gears for my truck i have found a whole transfer in good condition for a good price but the problem is it has a (34mm)idiler shaft.i know the bigger idiler shaft is stronger but i really dont care because im pretty gentle on my truck. now can i fit the case with the smaller shaft with reduction gears onto the r151f gearbox without problems.as far as i can tell the idile shaft wont matter if i swap the whole transfer over because the gearbox output is the same is this correct.thanks in advance if anyone could help me out.

I'm a bit lost as to what exactly your asking. Fj60s came 34mm pins and fj62s came with 38mm pins. I believe other than that they are identical as far as imput and mounting is concerned. What gears are in the 34mm case? I always thought AA 4:1 gears were the only options away from stock for a 60 series split case.

I should have explained better my truck is a landercruiser prado2 if your in us. or in auz landcruiser bundera! the gearboxs come different for both petrol and deisel.petrol is g52 34 mm idiler all tho the later model came with a 38 mm idiler shaft as well and deisel is the r151f (38mm) idiler shaft both are mated to a vacuum operated 60 series split transfer case tho .the tranfer im buying has 55% reduction gears from marks 4wd adapters but is only has (34mm) idiler shaft i want to fit that whole transfer case to my r151f gearbox but not sure about the different idiler shafts.

there is no big difference in the cases other than the bigger idler shaft. like you said 38mm is stronger but you can get by with the 34mm.

the 85-87 fj60s have the 38mm also. Marks 4wd Adaptors low range gears come in two options, 2.82 low with a .92 high and 3.05 low and 1.08 high.
