Steel wheels and backspacing

I want to order some new rims with a backspacing that will give me a little extra width.

There was a discussion here a while back and I seem to remember as several people had good luck with a 2 inch backspacing ( if my memory is correct, maybe it was 3 inches ??? ). There were also a few suggestions as to where to get theses wheels locally ( I'm in Northern California ).

I tried a couple of searches with no matches found

So here we go again........
What kind of backspacing is stock?
And what a good one to run if you want a wider stance?
And where's a good place to buy them ?

Wink

Hi Reddog! I think 3.5" of BS is stock on the later models with front discs.

I bought 15x10s with 3.25BS and like them. I don't loose a lot of beads like some will say happens with 10" rims, but I guess that probably depends on the size of the tire & the pressure you run. I have the rear GM calipers and I had to round over the calipers a bit to clear the rims. I think 3" or less would be best with the after market steel rims. YMMV though.

I do know that the TSM rear caliper brackets mount the caliper a little closer to the center of the rotor than the ones I had from Bill Jackson on my old 40 rear axle.

If I was buying rims again I would go with bead locks for sure though.

Good luck bud, and let us know what you decide.

I am running 2" backspacing with 36x12.50 TSL's and its a perfect fit. The rims are black steel Bart wheels. If you cant find a Bart dealer that will order them for you Stockton Wheel will make them.

I'm not too far from Reno, is that where you got them ?

Whats the deal with sales tax in Nevada ? I thought there was none ?

I tried to get them from Summit (they have a showroom and wherehouse here) but they will not do any special orders from Bart wheel. I guess in the past Bart had problems delivering them on time. Anyway, I got the rims through a place in Chicago with the help of my father who lives there. Bart wheel is a division of Clement Industries which is also located in Chicago. Uhh, what was the question? Oh ya, I got the rims through a friend of a friend. Ordered 10 of them, took about 3 weeks to get them.

Nevada has no sales tax on food like from the grocery store. If you go to say Taco Bell you pay tax. There is sales tax on everything else, 7.25% I think.

I just bought a set of 15x10 Eatons from national tire and wheel this past summer with a 3 inch backspace. The only thing that I found was that if I had gone to a 3 1/2 backspace I would rub the inside of the rim on the front calipers on the disk brakes.
Good luck on whatever you buy.

Traliready built my 15x10's w/2" bs for $45. Pretty much the same as the mtr's.

And for the record sales tax in Nevada is normal. 7.25% We just do not have a state income tax like the People's Republic of California

Jason, does Vegas have sales tax on food? If there is, must be a Clark county thing.

Got some snow here today, that makes for some killer wheelin'. My swampers work damn good in the slop.
