Finished building the front axle...

I just finished building the front axle for my truck, and I was talking with a friend who helped me and I ran the numbers through my head interms of cost... Wow. I should have built a dana 60.

I spent more on this axle build than on my first truck.

Longs
Mark Williams inner axles-300m material
E-locker diff
new rotors
knuckle rebuild kit
Hi-steer arms
HD tierods
FJ80 TRE's
T100 calipers
new hoses
E-locker wiring harness
Cut and turn(did it myself)
Mopar spring perches
CCOT u-bolts

I would not do it again, I would build a narrowed 35 spline outer Dana 60 with an arb, and be around the same cost with ALOT more strength. Just a word of advice...

FJ80's had an otpional electric locker for the rear... there is also the option of OEM cable lock..

They can be ordered at the dealership

No worries! I am happy they were so easy to deal with. they have samples of the inner cage to the birf, the spider gear and an actual long side inner to match the stuff up against, so it is leaving their shop correct.

P.S. dont handle the axles without spraying them down with some wd40 or something, the grease in the finger prints will rust the axles pretty quick.

They told me it would be a 2-2 1/2 week lead time to get it built.
This Tuesday will be 2 weeks, so I will probably see it the week of the 16th. Then the work starts switching everything together.

I got a bunch of pics, so I can write an article for Ih8mud.com on installing FJ80 electric lockers.

I'll post up some more later this afternoon. It was pricey, but it is as strong as a Toyota axle can get, so I guess I am happy.
