45 Wagon quadcab buildup!
Allright ladies! Here it is! The official Quadcab wagon thread. This is where the entire buildup will be chronicled. Now keep in mind that, like nearly all buildups, sometimes life happens and projects get put on the back burner for a while. Do not fear, this truck will get built, period. I owe it to Mike.
Got her home on Saturday after a few mishaps. I'll get some pics this week some time and get them up asap. Any discussions, suggestions, praises, critiques, chops, or donations are appreciated. Oh yeah. This Bitch needs a name! I was thinkin Wagonstein.

If, in looking for parts for yours, you find a spare set of doors (all 4 side doors) save them for me.
Here's my basket case Hey! Ya wanna race on the build ups? |

Good luck and God bless the wagon!
Good luck with the wagon project. I am about to do a less involved wagon project as well. I hope to make a dant in it rather quickly so as to wheel it this summer. I have been compiling parts and may be in pretty good shape when the wagon arrives.
There is a hitch though. I have never seen one up close, just in the magazines and on the net. I purchased mine site unseen from a friend of whom I purchased a 45 pickup from a few years ago. I am chomping at the bit waiting to see the beast and more excited to start the buildup then I have been with any and all of my other cruiser projects. I'll attempt to keep you guys posted and hope you do the same for all of us following the thread. All the best with the project and can't wait for the first pics! Goebeler

And Charlie McGee was pretty hot IIRC... sounds weired....Edit : Now I found it, that's firestarter 2 that I've seen... and Marguerite Moreau was hot indeed... I don't think a 45 pickup should be named after her... anyway... Well, basically... "what mantis said !!" ![]()

Thanks for the link support ther Denis!
Calfj60, I'm not real sure right now as to when I'll get things going. I messed around with straightening the windshield frame a little last night. It's amazing what 15 mins with a bottle jack and a couple of 2x4's will do. I need to cut the roof out and vac all the ash out from the inside pretty bad so that I can get a good look at what I'm really up against. With the bent ass roof gone all of the sagging above the windows will be easier to get out. I'm right in the middle of a refinance on my house and hoping to build a pool immediately after so the wagon's gonna be put off for a while. It's too damned hot to work outside right now anyway. I'll tool around with her a little bit in the evenings for the next few months but I really don't se any major movement happening at least until Sept. or Oct. I may have a tranny coming for her this week though. We'll see how everything goes down. Don't you guys worry. There'll be pleanty of progress stuff posted as I go along. I figure the body chop is free so it'll be one of the first things to go down. Once that's roughed in then I'll separate the cab from the frame and start the frame cleanup. And hopefully the running gear mock ups will be ready by then also. Cruiserman, It also needs some springs or links.

That would be sweet. I'll shoot you a PM later today so we can work out the details. Where in SoCal are you located? I've got a guy near Pomona that's coming out to buy a 56 Chrysler from me in the next few weeks. Maybe I could get them in his truck for the trip out. Or maybe I just need this as an excuse to get out to San Deigo. The wife's been wanting to take our daughter out to Sea World and the Zoo really bad.

How about putting a small ute style bed on the back. The competion crawler craze is starting to build some ugly, unfinished contraption. Its a crusier make it look good.

Those tires scale to be fawkin huge! like 44's or so. I probably won't run something quite that big but who knows. When it comes time for tires we'll see what's cheap in the for sale section.
My plans for the bed area aren't yet set in stone. I was looking at the bed on an early 80's-ish mini the other day, thinking it might be cool to bob one down to sit up there. The cage configuration will weigh heavily on my bed treatment. If I decide on a full exo, then there will be no box to the bed. It'll be either a straight flat bed with tool box or maybe just an open tube bed for the box and fuel cell. I've also thought about using the 1/4's that I'll be removing to make a matching factory ribbed bed box. Keep in mind that every panel on this truck is completely thrashed for straightness and the roof will be replaced with an incorrect skin off of something with similar lines to what I need. Old Ford quad cab or maybe a Dodge van. They both have a large roof with lines that may work for me. I haven't measured what I need so I'm not sure yet. It's going to be a total budget rig with cheapness being the number one driving factor behind parts acquisition(sp?) and/or use. The panels will not be straightened any more than what ever it takes to make them fit semi-properly. If it closes, it's straight enough for me kinda deal. She's not gonna be pretty, just functional.
