82 305 chevy into 75 LC?
I'm told this is a pretty popular swap, and was just wondering if anyone's got any advise on it. The LC is already rigged for the 305, and we have the rebuilt 305 longblock, so my only real concern is emisions issues. How much of a pita is it going to be to get it refereed? The 305 should have all it's smog junk, hopefully.
Now, do I need an evap system on the lc? it does not currently have one, and I would think I'd need it to pass inspection. I have the canisters and such off a 78 chevy pu, can I just stick them onto the lc? For the vapor line, can we just tap into the vent line on the filler, and replace the gasd cap with a non vented type? Thanks ~ John |

Yes, it does need smog.
This is a project for another guy, which he got from someone else, so I already know is a royal fawk up, but he's already got $$$ invested, and wants it sold. The mechanical stuff is already taken care of, and the motor was rebuild, so the only problem right now is getting all the smog crap lined up. ~John |

Well, now that we've agreed that it a POS, can we get on with the whole helping me do it kind of thing?
I could actualy care less about it, I was asked by the guy whose shop I'm storing stuff at if I could finish the swap so he could sell the rig. If I make it work nicely, I should be able to get a job with him, and get a break on my rent to store my rigs. ~John |

John, In my dealing with the B.A.R. I can tell you they will run the engine and frame #'s, So if you have everything for the 82 motor it will need to be installed, and working. Call them up before you go down there and talk to a tech. Tell him what the deal is and he should be able to help you out. It will save you some trips. The ref I got was good enough to let me slide on some minor details and printed up my tag. He just told me what to add on before I went to get it smogged.
Hope that helps you some.

I'll see if I still have their #'s and get em to yah. It was a pita for me to finally get through to someone who could help me out. But in the long run it was worth it.
