First off: Shit yeah!
But I was thinking of someplace less hectic than the Rubicon. Most FJ55s aren't setup for that trail. How about something mellow and beautiful, with some optional hard stuff. I had a great time running Cow Mountain up in Ukiah with Pacific Mountain Cruisers earlier this year. It's good any time of year, not real technical, pretty. Or maybe we could do a run to somewhere else in the Sierras that's still good for a stocker 55. Some friends of mine just got back from Deer Valley and their pictures are beautiful. They say a stock wagon could get through. I know of at least 10 FJ55 owners here in NorCal, with email. I'll start putting the word out, but if we want to get lots of FJ55s it has to be a mellow trail. Maybe we can do a "warpigs" run on the con soon. :-) morgan

Morgan, great pics and trail reports on Deer Valley and Cow Mountain.
I vote for Deer Valley! (Not that my vote counts for much mind you!) So what date are we shooting for? 12 – 14 October as fc187 suggests? Let me check with the First Shirt this weekend and get her approval. - Jake

there is nothing hectic about the rubicon trail this time of year , the rocks are all stacked from the jambo and a run to buck or spider is not hard at all even for a mildly built 55 , sure a stock 55 might have some trouble but i was thinking more on the lines of a hardcore 55 run , with all built rigs .
you guys can form a mild run anytime to hh, fr, dv or any easy place .. i cant justify taking my rig to an ant hill to pose , no offense but come awn morgan your rig walks rubicon and right now it's ten times easier then when you last went through .. you would not believe who much the trail has changed it's not tough ... besides you guys have already done a mild all 55 run last year .. come awn war pigs [ 08-30-2001: Message edited by: fj junkie ]

ok i just got a confirmation that if we set up a hard core 55 run that one of the big rags would cover the run . but they need to schedual their photogrphers so i need to get back to him right away ...
what's it going to be guys are we going to line them up in a parking lot for a picture or are we going wheeln ?

Alan, how many FJ55s would show? You, Don and me. The Knorr brothers would for sure. Maybe W? That guy from SoCal Eric Lindt with the red/white 55 might, but that's a long drive on short notice. Who else? I don't think Bill wants to wheel his "Leaning Lady" hard. Last I asked him, I think he said he wouldn't take it on the con. I don't know a lot of FJ55 owners that would. Let's see if we can find some. You'd get way more 55s on an "ant hill" run. But I like Black Sabbath. I am Iron (Pig) Man.

on a hardcore run you dont want 50 rigs it would be to much . i was thinking no more than 10-12 rigs .. i am sure we could put that many together .. you forgot joe sommerville , mudrak knows the guy with roadkill and there are more heck we could get shacky's ig ready in time for that run he wants to wheel it ....

Joe Somerville's 55 is very nice, but his 35s rub driving on the road, and he's told me several times he'll never wheel it. I've asked!
I think you're looking at maybe 4-5 rigs. But I'm for it! morgan

Screwzer's in!
Anytime in October is good! Agree with Morgan on Rubicon... can't quite do it in my 55 till I replace my front springs (had to go back to stockers after breaking lifts in Utah). Final blow was trying to do SierraTrek (hence the need for my Transfer Case swap) Slightly milder than Sirra Trek will do it for me.... but then I'm a bit crazy Do I smell Bacon? |

Hey Allan you could go in and out on Fordyce real easy. Which would be great for trailer axcess.
Also does anyone have a seat (Alan, Morgan, Don) i want to go and it does not sound like you guy would let me bring my 40. I will bring it if you guys let me. Chose a trail with a few hard things on it so we can get some extreme 55 pics.

ok i had a little talk with morgan this afternoon about this and he thinks rubicon would be great it's really not hard guys it's late in the season the rocks are stacked and it's almost paved .. there has already been two fj55 events for the mostly stock trucks time has come to give it hell on the trail ...there are two hard spots on the trail and both have bypasses come awn..
time to vote for rubicon i vote for the con i think morgan is for the con luke is for the con knorr with the battlewagon ? bill jackson ? i am pretty sure don is good with the con ? james that just bought dog walkers 55 is going to ready it for this little adventure .. speak up

I would love to see every 55 in California at one place, one trail, at the same time.
BUT,........ jackson has the BBQ going on for that. I say this.....lets plan on doing another BBQ next spring for ALL 55 owners. maybee plan it a wee bigger. perhaps send out invitations via the mailing list. for now,.......fuck it, lets do the con. It would rock to have even a half dozen pigs all lined up, thunping and banging and screching allong. fuck that would be a sight to see and I would be honored to take part wherever we go, lets talk date. I think this will dictate who does and doesent go just as much as location. I would think mid October would be the safest bet. that should give everyone plenty of time and wouldnt interfere with the cleanup. whatcha guys think? [ 08-30-2001: Message edited by: fc187 ]
