FJ45 SWB Removeable Top Info/Parts
I met a guy in Wilson, Wyoming last weekend (Jackson Hole basically) who has a 65 FJ45 SWB RT. It is pretty stock except upgraded ignition and a cable conversion for the carb. Interior refurbished and newer paint. He is looking for folks who know about these rigs and sources for original parts. I emailed Rick Donnelly but I'm not sure I have his current address since he moved. Anyone have it? Or those of you who know more about these rigs have suggestions on where he can get parts and info.

What is he looking for specifically. I don't think there is a concentration of parts all in one place, and the people that do have the parts (at least the people I know) keep a low profile. There was a corugated steel top at the last 2 PMC swap meets, same top - same price.... maybe i'll buy it next year.

AFAIK, there aren't any FJ45-specific part sources, he's pretty much in the same boat as everyone else, scrounging part stashes, checking out Cruiser shops, getting on every available mailing list and BBB, and above all, becoming a TLCA member.
Best way to get the hook up is to network with other FJ45 owners, you never know if the extra parts you have lying around can be exchanged for that one unobtanium item you've been looking for five years for. |

He's not really looking for unobtanium parts. He has all those. He is very lucky that way. He is looking for a factory hand throttle and some factory hubcaps. I wouldn't think these would be too hard to locate. He has been doing business with SOR and was looking for some alternatives. Since I've never looked for parts for anything that old I didn't know who to tell him a good source was.
I gave him a couple of TT I had under the seat. If you ever see me I usually have a copy or two under the seat. Sometimes they get pretty beat up but usually the recipient is still happy. I'm sure we will see his name added to the TLCA roster very soon. Met a guy up at Tomboy Mine in Colorado who had never heard of TLCA. His 60 was unlocked and window open and he caught me setting the TT on his front seat. At first he was like, "what the hell are you doing to my truck." He started thumbing through the TT and he was pretty happy to have met me on the trail.

is the vent the bug catcher style? if so no one that I know has them. If its the normal kind both TLC and SOR now have repo's made for the left hand side(right can get from dealer) I happen to have 2 new left hand OEM ws, Scott Tate found some last year.......someplace. Hub caps........those are hard to come buy, I have some but only one or two that are any good. hand throttle, I'm sure someone like Cruiserparts has one

If you want J-hooks that clamp the back of the cab down don't actually put much torque on them if you end up with oem, they are cast and break, fab some up, they will be stronger and will look just fine, especially behind the seat. TLC advertised the vent rubber for the driver's side in TT. A headache rack fabbed out of square tubing will look OEM and will hold up better, throw in something(expanded metal) to protect the cab.
