Q-Jet turned 180 degrees

What are some advantages/disadvantages, do's/ don'ts of turning the Q-Jet 180 degrees?

I do not see this being done in Nor-Cal.

I did a search on Q-Jets and some of the posts refered to this. Supposed to perform better @ high angles, down hill.

Sounds cool and easy depending on the style of intake you are using.

I am sure we will find out shortly.

i think alot of that comes from ppl not knowing how to adjust the quad. that carb will outperform all others hands down, almost as good as bolt-on TBI even.

This is an old time mod that everyone should have heard about!..it makes the Q-jet even better on steep climbs!..Q-jet fuel bowl is in the front of the carb..By revearsing it, it puts the bowl to the rear of the vehicles firewall ..Then on steep hill climbs the overflow doesnt leak into the venturi's!!

..I heard you just use an adapter..machine the primary side to the same size as the secondarys...I think you use a throttle cable off a Chevy Van..maybe older Astro?..of course still adjust the floats lower too!...Dont quote me or try this without doing more research..A buddy of mine is going to try it after we do some more searching on this subject

BTDT, it works.

I used a plain 'ol 'q-jet to squarebore adapter, and ground it out...

Works MUCH better uphill... Still works OK downhill.

Not only this, but the Q-jets secondaries use the "pull over effect" from the fuel supply tubes being in the aerodynamic shadow of the spliting plate. Only the primaries on the Q-jets use a true venturi design to mix fuel. This pull over design is the big reason Q-jets can be run on such a wide variety and sizes of engines. Reversing prevents fuel from being siphoned into the secondaries.
