front and rears are just about the same. on my BJ40, I think the front were 7 leaves, when the rears were only 6 leaves. The +4" springs I put on are all identical, and the truck feels very well balanced with the hardtop on and my lightweight alum. tub. so I guess just the same front and rear wouldnt be too bad...

hth,

OEM fronts are LONGER than the rears, IIRC about 2 - 3 inches. It will make a difference.

not off mine. 1/2" at most. I have a bunch of them from '75 and '80 BJ40s, and I can't tell the difference from eye-to-eye length with no weight on them.

Huh? Sure about that?

IIRC, the fronts have an extra leaf.

You're right, Denis. My OEM fronts were only 7/8 inch longer than the rears, laying upside down unweighted on the floor just now. They have prolly flattened out with time, so likely they were the same at first, like the table says.

And yes, the fronts have 7 leaves, rears 6 leaves.
