Warn hub CARNAGE
Decided to take a friend of mine wheeling yesterday. We went up behind my house to a easier section of trails so he could get used to his new used vehicle. He bought an 90 wrangler with a 4.2 and put a pro comp lift and 33's on it. He was having a ball and really enjoying himself.
We hit the snowline about half way up and I noticed that I had sheared 3 of my hub studs off . I decided to unlock that hub and engage the ARB to drive it out, bad move, it steered me right into a 3-4 foot deep ditch that was full of snow. I was stuck! I decided to lock the hub back up and drive it out, so I dug out the tire and locked the hub.I hopped in the rig and gave it some throttle...........BOOM. I new right away what it was. Before I could inspect I pulled the winch cable and yanked my ass out of the hole. Thats when I found this.

I've got one of those at home...looks just like that...
I was able to SHEAR the 6 studs and 2 pins off on my Aisin lockout on Saturday....don't ask me how, but the lockout and hub look perfect and the hardware junked....

I was in Moab about 4 years ago for the weekend and decided to run Golden Spike on the day we were planning on going home. About halfway into the Spike i discovered that I had sheared off a couple studs. I tightened the rest down and decided to take it easy the rest of the way. Then just before Golden Crack the hub literally exploded and shot about 15' off to the side of me. I was open in both ends too so that made it even more fun. I met up with a guy in a cherokee who agreeded to strap me when i needed it to get off the trail. I think that i made him mad when he only had to strap me once the entire trip out. He even offered to write me a check right then and there for my cruiser. Needless to say i declined his offer. Drove into town bought a can of grease shoved it in the center cap then smashed the cap down around it and drove 200 miles home.

Warn Premium Hubs have a lifetime warranty. I've had several replaced in the past couple years. Unfortunately, that doesn't say much about their quality, but it does say alot about their outstanding customer service.

Hmm, speaking from being the warn-to-toyota hub-stud-shearing-master's perspective, I'd say that's just about par for the course... Of course my hub would snap off the studs any time I went downhill in 4wd.
Something about a big heavy assed FJ60 and a lockright wasn't doing them any favors. I've had tons better luck with the stock aisins though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they're the solution to my problem! That's nasty breakage though. I had hoped to use the Warn's as an "external fuse", but ended up with a much worse situation. Gotta love the splined lockouts on those full sized axles. Hmmm, good...
