rear spring flip? e-brake cable? brake lines?

got the shocks and drive shaft taken care of, what about the e-brake and brake lines? do they need to be lengthened? what did you guys do? thx

The brakeline will for sure. The ebrake cable won't if its on the transfer case.

I heard through the grapevine BTB was selling longer/extended FJ40 ebrake cables. Haven't checked it out. Don't know how much $$$.

You must have a 81+ 40 if you're worried about the ebrake stuff. I don't know what to tell you there.

You can double up stock rubber brake lines for extra length.

I was surfing around BTB's site a while ago they do have an entire replacement cable. I don't remember how much though.

Believe or not,...I got my extended brake lines from NAPA..dont remember the part#..We just went through the book and found some!...Bolted right on!

yup shes an 1981, just wanted to get everything ready so i can do it all in 1 day, im welding on the shock tabs on the back of the bar and getting a spare shaft lengthened and ready, brake and e-brake and im ready, do i have to re-drill and flip the bottom leaf? thx guys

The cable BTB sells is for the e-break on the back of the T.Case only, it will not fit 81 or older.

I was able to get about 6" of extension by simply cutting the cable to make it longer on the passenger side. This is on a FJ60 ebrake which I believe is similar to a late 40. I had some spare cable lying around from a mini truck, same basic design. Cut it just barely off the back-right ebrake handle on the axle. Then put a 6" extension in using two cable clamps and on the other side of the cable used a 6" piece of dipstick tube to make sure the cable still works and compresses correctly, which may or may not have been mandatory, it seemed to still work great without it. Worked great and did the trick for my SOA. But then again on my 60, I was able to lift it without any modifications to it. It was a little tighter but still ok...
