Chevy HEI distrubutor in 2F

I am looking to swap this into the 2F motor.. has any one got any experiance with this.. can the gear & pin be bought from the Toyota dealer still? Also what year range chevy do I need to find the dist. out of?? <IMG SRC="smilies/rasta.gif" border="0">

mudrak sells an hei set up for an f/2f i know he has to have some machine work done to male them work correct .. i know three people who have them and they claim better performance and gas mileage

I did one for a friend. We got the dist from a late 70's vintage chevy truck at the salvage yard, a "coil-in-cap" style and it fit ok next to the 2F block.

I used the drive gear from his OEM dist, making sure it was the proper distance from the mounting flange, and secured it with a spiralok pin (like a roll pin on steroids). I must warn you though the dist shaft is HARD! A drill bit wont do it- I used a solid carbide end mill.

That's it! Better throttle response immediately and no more point setting.

mines been in about 2 yrs now and its awsome, if you dont mind a little work yourself you can save big $$. get a dist from a late '70 250 inline six. mine is from 79. swap the chevy gear for the toyota. and you can use a generic dist hold down clamp. you need at least 10 volts to it, i went right off the batery with a relay for keyed power. you can use the original + wire from the toy dist, for the switch. rather than going to the ign. big improvement in mileage and low end pull and smoothness. <IMG SRC="smilies/beer.gif" border="0">
