Shouldn't I install a lift? (recommended height and brand?)
and buy some 15x8 black rock crawlers and go ahead and get some 33x12.50's (recommended brand for all Terrain?) and strap on a big ugly bumper (ARB) and a winch (Multi Mount?) and some 4.56's and... |

Best all-terrain I know of is the BFG MT
good street manners good offroad manners good longevity overall/mixed driving expect 40k out of set run at 12psi offroad (or thereabouts) adequate mud traction just hand-sipe the center blocks or have them done professionally and you've got a great all weather, all season tire Option 2 is to stall a bit for the MT-KM and pick up a set in a 33x10.5...those "should" fit your vehicle stock. I run the AT-KO's on my pickup in a 33x10.5 with no lift (95 Toyota V6) and like them....but not a great offroad tire. Nice onroad, nice for packed trails. My next one will be a MT without question.

If it does not say Interco on the sidewall it is an All-Terrain.
I like the MT/R's if I were looking into a 33" all-purpose tire. Had 'em, loved 'em.

Had a buddy get 65k out of his BFG all-terrains, and they still looked fairly good.
This was on an FJ40. I ran them on an old bronco, and loved them. I run swampers now, but would not recommend them as an on road tire. I have seen the MT/R's in action, and they did amazingly well off road, but had a fairly short tread life. (short being relative. maybe 25-30K?) Either way, they are both great tires. Stay away from the off brands. I had a set of Kuhmo nud tires given to me (33x12.5) and when one developed a sidewall bulge, it was quoted at $175 plus shipping to replace.

I have seen thornbirds in mud. They may as well say "Sears Trailhandler" on them.
