Post Suspension Questions-With some Photo's

I have a 74 FJ40, SOA, 2.5" body lift, extended front shock towers, and 9012's all the way around. I built an RTI ramp and was checking things out and found that my front shocks when fully compressed that I run out of shock, maybe a 1/4" left. However, when they droop out I have about an inch left. How do I get more? I have stock springs, and I am going to open up the spring clamps, this should help some. What else can I do to get more flex? Run no shocks up front? The rear seems OK as far as the shocks. I am also going to swap in some D44's from a Waggy, 61-62"'s wide. Will post some pics this weekend, little ramp fest with the Chief and his J20. Please help me out with some sound and proven suggestions, oh, and I do not have a shackle reversal. Thanks

You don't always get real world compression with an RTI ramp!

Don't make any major modifications to your rig for an inch of flex, that's crazy!

Flex it on some rocks where your front left and right rear are stuffed at the same time and you may find that your suspension works just fine!

Opening the spring packs will help and that is not a major deal (pain in the ass though).

I have always used my shocks as bumpstops too, but it is better to install bumpstocks to stop the up-travel before the shocks bottom out.

You can also try a longer shackle in the front to allow the spring a farther range to drop.

I am running a 2.5" extended shackles right now, and I know the ramp is not a real world test. It flexes great, actually, it does pretty damn good, most people's first reaction is "Damn, look at that thing". I just think it should do more. Hell, we always want more.

I am going with the Waggy axles for more width, cheaper to do, it's scary as hell because of how tall it is. Too many OH S#$#'s in those off camber spots. I will fix the bumpstops this weekend, should have the D44 rear on. I know should go with the 60, but I can't beat this deal, will upgrade later, after I trash these for a while.

On a side note, my brother put his up on it last night, 35's on 4" SkyJacker, pretty sorry. Those springs suck, I am glad I got rid of mine. He is opting for the SOA now as well. Actually I think he is going to use my axles when I replace them.
