A while back, one of you guys posted a pic of your cruiser that had black treadplate for fenders. (I think a red cruiser, sixgun?)
anybody know who this is? my fenders are pretty jacked, but since it is on the street quite a bit, cutting them off just isn't an option. (it's hardly legal anyway) I thought this looked to be a good way to maintain legality and still cut off my eye sores

Nah, that was FJ40Charles.
He has a thread going now, grab his email and he will send you some shots. Go to my photopoint site below and go to the "Cruisers in Clayton" album and there are a bunch of shots of his rig in action. There is a guy in Arkansas that is making these, Charles was first, and selling the kit for $500.

Thanks, but I'm pretty sure the one I saw had black tread plate for the front fenders. I didn't see that in the pics, any other ideas? [ 08-22-2001: Message edited by: Whamo ]

Whamo,
You don't want me to weld. Let's just say I'm a beginner who did a little gas welding long time ago. I don't have much experience with a mig and it will take me many many years to lay down a good bead like the pros. Basically, the whole vehicle was built by Jewell Bohannan of Bohannan 4 wheel drive in Bentonville, Arkansas. His email is jdbohannan@hotmail.com or you can call him at work at 501-273-7674 Jewell is a great guy that has owned an FJ40 since 1973 and knows his stuff. Disclaimer: Not affliated with Bohannan 4 wheel drive. Hope this helps.. Shoot me an email at charles.kim@attws.com if you have any other questions. Charles

These fender are made out of 1.5 inch tubing and replaces the exiting one. They are designed so I can stand on the fenders.
Basically, I wanted some fenders that I could lean or slide my FJ40 into some trees or rock without having to worry about them getting bent or crushed. Let's just say these will be the last set my Cruiser will need. You can get the factory replacements, but if you wheel you vehicle much, you'll end up chewing them up unless you really trim them back. Charles

Yep, that was FJ40Charles sportin the cool front fender tread. Tankota, Wheelinjp and me are playin with an idea to weld 1" thick wall tubing or 1" square around the underside of the stock front fenders to "fend off" those nasty trees that seem to be growin all over WA, Wheelinjp just finished a set for his CJ5.

Hey Fj40charles would you be offended if I use that idea? I will probably use smooth plate rather than tread, so if you dont mind?If not I can come up with something a little diff. Thanks let me know
