Get the one from Extreme Bends. It is the best fitting most complete setup i have seen. $300 bucks and no screwing around.

Nolen.... I went to that site and checked it out..... somehow I couldn't get the whole thing to load on my webtv> I will have to try again later, would you suggest I get an indexing ring for the fron beaaring retainer? I test fitted the 420 to my bellhousing and it seemed fine. just wonder if it is worth all the effort. Thanks again

The page takes a long time to load but it has a lot of good information. IMHO it would be adviseable to use an indexing ring. Also slightly ream out the bottom holes in the bellhousing and top holes in the transmission and the bolts will go in alot easier. Mike |

Use the advance adapters front piece or use the indexing ring!!! You will hate yourself later if you do not....
I did.....

I finished this swap with the Extreme Bends plate last Thursday, put the truck on the trailer and wheeled all weekend in Poteau, OK.
From my experience with the swap, go with the Extreme Bends plate. It is the best one that I found. Steven had it to my door for $350 USD plus shipping. It had a full gasket kit for the SM420, all mounting bolts, and bearing. I had an indexing sleeve machined at my local machine shop. Take the time to do this, it will save your pilot bearing. After wheeling this weeking with the SM420, I will never wheel another truck without one. My truck crawls like mad. Steep decents are actually safe now. tp

I forgot to mention that with the Extreme Bends plate you do NOT have to grind down the reverse hump on the SM420 for the front output flange to clear.

t wrecks,
The indexing ring fits around the SM420 front bearing retainer and causes the retainer to seat inside the LC 3-speed bell housing. Without the indexing ring the bearing retainer does not rest on the bellhousing. tp
