Hello everyone I just thought I would let you know that my cruiser was destroyed by fire last weekend due to an unnoticed fuel leak igniting on the header(I presume??). It all happened so fast. Anyway I am planning to rebuild it with several improvements along the way. I know it is going to be a long and expensive process and hope to be able to rely somewhat on the experts on this board for advice and hints along the way. here is a couple of pics. Paul

Thanks for your concern, I think I am going to replace the entire body front to back with aluminum from Aqualu here in B.C. I can get it all for $6000.00(cdn). Thats not too bad, should lighten it up a bit too. Thanks again, paul

That is really awful. The worst part about losing one of these if the fact that you will be reimbursed by the ins. company for 1/5th of what you have in it.
My friend spent many years and over 12K on his cruiser, which rolled on the highway after another vehicle lost a tire, which he hit-going 60 MPH. His truck was totalled, and the ins. co offered him less than 3K. He held out, got many cruiser heads and businesses that he had dealt with to write letters, and they came back with over 5K. I hope it works out. Sorry to hear it, though. All of the local cruiser guys pitched in parts and time, and we rebuilt his truck, by the way.

as for insurance, if you are going to sink 12,000 into a auto, why the hell are you not getting a "Stated value" done on it??? have the value of the truck re-assesed and pay the insurance on that policy, then you are not screwed when this happens..
on a second note, what are you going to do to the frame?? the rust will be bad on the inside, and what was protected now no longer is.. can you get it dipped and dunked in a primer or coating??? |

dude...that sux ass (it almost happened to me too so don't feel bad)
with insurance you can send them ads for other cruisers like yours was and they have to give you fair market value. (i know because they tried to f*^K me when my 68 camaro got totaled) they offered 3K and i ended up with 8K good luck and have fun

So didn't you have a fire Ext.?
Instead of taking pics I would have been Discharging mine and everyone elses extinguishers. That must suck.
