I have an extra straight and clean FJ-55 frame and keep thinkin its about right for a 45 body. Anybody have a clue if this is possible? Could be more trouble than its worth, just thought I'd ask.

I have not compared the two (55 vs 45) but the wheel base is similar, and the front frame rails are a similar spacing, so I would venture that it is doable - just a case of figuring out the body mount stuff.

I've seen an FJ45 LWB pickup cab/bed on a slightly modified FJ55 frame. I can track the guy down and ask him what was involved if you'd like.
Rick D., you out there? Rick's the FJ45 wagon guru, he might be able to point you in the right direction!! |

Here is what I found out about the two frames. Fj55 is 7mm wider in the front, 165mm narrower at the rear and over all, 136 mm shorter. shock towers in different location body mounts different by 10 mm. spring hangers in different locations and the centers to the front and rear axles from the ends of the frames are different. I have the schematics if you want them.

Thanx Plowboy, where did you get the schematics? Seems like its somewhat doable, given the minor differences. A little fun with a torch and welder. Now all I need is some chunks of old 40 and 45 bodies to play with!
Guess I'll keep the frame then |
