Longfields in a daily driver?
Someplace I sware I read that Longfields were not a good choice in a daily driver........not sure why?
I have a set of em(got that killer deal at xmas time) and was thinking of using them in the 82 fj40, I need to replace a tube seal(ect) and figured this might be a good home for them.

They're supposedly softer than stock birfs, but if your hubs are unlocked they're not going to wear out.

which truck in the fleet are you wanting to wheel more often? That's where I'd put em. The heat treating process makes the metal softer so it can give and not break thus in a daily driver non-full time 4wd it's fine. But if you plan on locking in the hubs and driving in say winter conditions on bad streets then I'd say not a great idea. But since we all know you don't have those conditions up there.. your probably good to go and put em in whatever you want!

Try em out. I seriously doubt that you will wear them out for a very long time.

DD Longs
I have the big rover birfs longfeilded in the front D60 on my 57 rover pickup. I drive it pretty frequently (about 4000 miles in the last 3 months + regular wheeling trips) I think Im starting to get some play in them but I need to pull em and check. Its part time 4wd, but I dont have any free wheel hubs on em.
