Best Axel to swap?????

OK guys. What do you guys like to use in a FJ-40 when you dont use the factory axels? I just bought a rig and the axels are gone. I am thinking a waggy front with a toyota v-6 rear! I am doing a Spring over and wanting to run 35's maybe 37's. thanks for all the help. -josh

Sorry not much experience with axles other then the LC's but I hear you can't go wrong with D60's.

If you decide with a PU V6 rear I have one I'll sell you.

What drivetrain you are planning on will make a difference in what axle choice you have.

Budget will also come into play.

Yea that guy has a point on the axel choice. Of course there are a million different way to go about it. I am going to run a 4.3/sm465/dana300 and iwas thinking a waggy 44 front and toy v-6 rear. spring over with stock springs and probably 35's but maybe 37's if they will clear with out to much trouble. this project is more a driver/weekend wheeler. i wanted something that doesnt have to be towed like my other rig. I did some horse trading for this one. It doesnt have any drive train at all.
I have most of the "new" drive train just need to deciede on axels. Iwas thinking of a ford 8-lug 44 front and 60 rear but they are just to wide for what I want.
I was wanting axels with more of as 63-64 WMS not the standard 69 that fullsizes are.
I could hunt up a set of stock fj-40's but they are going to cost more than these others. I appreciate the help here. I just wanted to see what you guys thought.
thanks. -Josh

get a waggy 44 front and a 9" rear that is the appropriate width that you desire.

Honestly 63-64" wide is pretty wide for a mild trail rig.

I would look narrower.

Then again, My habits are to use stuff even if I did nto expect to. So when starting from scratch I would take a D60, narrow the DS to about 64", get a 60 rear, slap some 9" ends on it and 35 spline shafts and call it good.

Toy v6 rear is only like 56" wide.
taco is like 60"
tundra is like 63" or so

Figure out what you want first..
Wider is not all that much better on a street rig depending on where you live.

FYI My old tacoma rear (60 wms) with 2" Bs rims and 38.5" sx's is almost exactly the same width as my stock 67" wms 14 bolt with 5.50 (or so) offset rims and 39.5: Irock's...

I agree with you on the width for a "driven" rig. I was told with out being there that a toy v6 rear was 63-64 wms. Thats what I get for taking his word for it uh? I would have found out when I got over there....
My dedicated trail rig is 65 wms front and rear dana 60's and ireally like that width,But its on a dedicated trail rig. I really dont like the 9-inch because of the low pinion. I know I could get a high pinion diff but then I might as well get a 60 rear and be done with it. choices choices choices. thanks for your help here.
