Advanced Adapters

People seem to use the internet to bitch about vendors, I sure have, how often do they post when they are happy with something?

As much as I like to bitch and complain about stuff, every once in a while I get a surprize that I can't believe - something rare called "customer service". I had a problem with something I got from Advanced Adapters, so I wrote them a letter calmly stating what my problem was, how it started and what the facts where. That was 4 years ago. Much to my surprize, they were really cool about it, called me up and promised to make good on it. Now, 4 years later I call them back and start the process to fix the problem I had before and never did anything about. I thought that I had waited to long and they would have forgetten about me. Called the guy up, he called me back and made good on it what he said he'd do. 4 years later. Now, that is cool. I can't even imagine calling half the vendors out there with that expectation.

The guy's name Vic, super nice guy.

Compared to some of the BS that 15 years of Land Cruisers and 20 years of 4x4's has exposed me to, I was pretty happy with AA.

Enough Said,

-Stumbaugh

I gotta second Vic being a good guy. I've spoken to him *at length* many times about the orion over the last "lotta months," and he's always been very patient with all my ignorant questions, and very forthright about how the project was progressing. I like him.

Sounds like you got real lucky waiting this long to finally get the problem taken care. I wonder what would have happened if Vic had left the company?

Yes! I agree about his good service. For LC questions ask for Vic. He is a good guy. He also knows the stuff, he just doesn't read you the answer out of their catalogue. I've dealt with many of the other employees there and had really bad luck. Vic isn't always available, but I try to get him if I can.

i have always been impressed by AAs service and parts.

example.
a friend of mine goes to BTB (aka fucking asshole brian, larry and co ) and drops $15k on parts. part of that purchase was a new NV4500. he tries to assemble everything and gets in way over his head. so we tow the truck to my place, disassemble everything he's done and put it all back together. when we get to the trans, we figure out that they sold him the wrong one; input shaft is too big. no big deal, we'll just call BTB and exchange it for the proper one. so we explain the situation to brian.here goes:
B(rian): do you still have the receipt? (even though he knows my buddy and how much he spent).
P(at):sure
B:when did you buy it?
P:six months ago, but obviously it's never even been installed.
B:sorry, but the warranty is 3 months.
P:we don't need it waranteed, just exchanged. there is nothing wrong with this unit, you supplied the wrong one. i went with your recommendation and you sold me the wrong part.
B:well, i don't know what to tell you, but we do not exchange or warranty parts after 3 months. but i can sell you the proper trans.
P:so you're not going to exchange this unit?(understandably perplexed)
B:no. can't do it.
so i get on the phone and get a little more unpleasant than pat, but obviously to no avail. brian however tells us that he gets the units from AA and to call them about warantee issues, cause it's not something he can do for us. fucking prick!
so i call AA the next day and by chance i get the owner's son on the phone. i explain the situation and he says"let me see what i can do. i'll call you back tomorrow cause i'm leaving for an important appointment". i tell him thanks a lot and i'll wait for his return call. the next day i get a UPS next day air package delivered to my place. it's the proper input gear with a new retainer, gasket and instructions. later that day i get a return call from my AA. "sorry i did'nt get a chance to call you back earlier. i trust that by now you got some parts via UPS. let me know if you have any questions and do me a small favor, put the left over parts back in the box and call me when you're done or if you have any questions; i'll send a UPS pickup tag to return them."on my voicemail.
i have never before and never since seen or heard of customer service anywhere close to that. needless to say, i was more than impressed. i've used AA parts for over 10 years and will continue to support them. customer for life here! and i did call him back to personally thank him.

4 years to fix a problem is good service? Not trying to be an ass. Just curious.

No, it did not take them 4 years, I contacted them when I had the problem and they agreed to fix it right away. It took my ADD* ass four years to get back to the problem and do something about it.

Certainly it was cool of Vic to take care of me, but it was the owner of AA who called me back 4 years ago and theb got me in touch with Vic.

If there is anything I can say about my life is that I have mis spent my youth playing with all things mechanical. 20 years of this hobby and this kind of customer service does not come along very often.

*note for Cruiserman, ADD is as an acronym for Attention Deficit Disorder - just kidding dude.

AA kicks ass!

I will only buy parts through them after my experience with them. I got a HACKED up nv4500 from a rebuilder because it was cheaper and I wanted the older lower geared version. to make a long story short the rebuilder didn't include all of the parts needed when they should have and AA went and pulled the parts I needed from a display NV and gave them to me, FREE!

Next time, I will just buy the whole shebang from them in the first place, may spend a few c notes more, but it's worth it.
