Crosspost 60 series front axle for sale
Selling my 60 series front axle. SOA, cut-n-turn, e-locker, longfields, marlin hi-steer. It's in the for sale section.
Whoops. I deleted the first thread cause I messed it up. Here's the real one: /forum/axles-tires-wheels-sale/314583-lc-60-series-front-axle-w-e-locker-hi-steer-longs-4runner-brakes.html (Thanks Dre.) PM or post up. -Ferg- Last edited by theferg; 12-26-2004 at 11:45 PM. |

Now your selling it huh? All that work for nothing?
![]() What do you planning on doing with the 80 series front? Running coils or converting to leafs? One thing on your search for 80 alloys pretty sure ya know, but they are 16" man, so you would need new meats! 3 FYI notes on running 80 axles/wheels: 1- if you wanna run the front center caps in the front with a 60 axle, you need the IFS hubs and a 1/4" spacer for them to fit perfectly (they kinda fit without the spacer but not 100%)! Unless you run a complete 80 series front, then you are ready to rock and roll and they fit perfect! Call me a freak (most do) but i think the front centercaps are a very nice touch! Keeps shit out of the hubs too! Also keeps the neighborhood trouble causing bastard kids from locking and unlocking them for fun! ![]() 2- 80 series front axle wont have unlocking hubs, which means your driveshaft will always be turning and the conversion kit to make it unlockable is big coin i think! Are the 80 and 60 knuckles interchangeable??? 3- make sure whoever you buy the wheels from gives ya the lug nuts, they are hard to find and F-ing expensive! (dealer = $5.75 each) 5.75 x 24 = $138 or so! also, i am curious what your steering plans are

Hey Fergie
Why not part out the front end (i will take the e locker and maybe even the shaft as a spare for the right $) and bolt up the 60 knuckles with all the hi steer and shit to the 80 housing! My .02

![]() Honestly, the only things I would gain of puttin in an 80 series front would be the larger birfs, high-pinion front diff, and matched width of the 80 series rear. It started with trying to match the width of the rear and I figure if I can come out with not having to really spend any money on the swap by selling my current setup, then I'm all good. No worries. That was pretty much my same thinking on my rear FF exchange I am doing. -Ferg- |

Mangler - I'm not sure the knuckles and crap would bolt up to the 80 axle. And even if it did, I know that the larger 80 series birfs won't fit. And the larger birfs is pretty much the only real upgrade over my stock 60 series front.
The stock 80 series steering will not work with leaf springs (unless you totally rig it or re-engineer it somehow--which I'm not doing). Also, the 80 series knuckle has a different bolt pattern on top of the knuckle than older LCs--so the 60 series hi-steer arms will not bolt on to the 80s knuckles. But www.ottindustries.com makes an 80 series hi-steer kit, but it's a bit spendy. We'll see. If I can get the same or near the same amount of money out of parting it out, I might just do it. I've got to make near what I am asking for the entire setup, or else it's not worth it to swap. (And yes, you can be first in line for the e-locker if I part it out) -Ferg- |

Ferg, do you already have a front axle?
If not, I have a 92 front. It has a bad drive flange, whining front diff, and clicking birfs. I have a spare birf, and the late model solid axle toy free wheel hubs bolt right onto the 80 series stuff. The axle is complete, hub to hub. Pretty new brake stuff and all the steering stuff. |

Ferg,
What did you come up with for the 80 and 60 rear measurements? Are they close to what I posted on ih8mud? If you go with the 80 front, you should graft in the 60 series center section and keep your front e-locker. Similar to the Icelandic cruisers.

If you decide to part it out let me know. I want the e locker.
Just finish your truck!

As for the front--it looks like I will be keeping it for now. But, dd113 and kling-on will have first dibs if I end up getting rid of it after all. Thanks for the offer on the front will, if I end up needing one, I'll check with ya. -Ferg- |

I measured the 80 series rear at almost exactly 63". I haven't had a chance to measure the 60 rear, but I've seen ~59" all over the place plenty of times. I reckon it's gotta be near there... That would be sweet to drop in the larger Cruiser diff into the 80 series front. -Ferg- |
