I am toying with the thought of using a Stout bed for my short bed 45. I will have to cut it down a little . It will kind of look like a chopped long bed. I already have a complete bed with tail lights and tail gate in good shape. Any one have thoughts. I also thought about just using the tail gate for a long
bed they are close and look just about the same.

Wheelwell arches are definitely different between the model. If I had to choose between cutting the bed or modifying the frame, I think it would kind of depend on the overall condition of the rig. If the Stout bed were nice, I do not think I would cut it. Instead, I would cut and lengthen the frame til the rear axle was far enough back to match the wheelwells in the stout box. Of course that also means lengthening the driveshaft, brake line, and wiring.

I considered all of these in the quest to fit another bed to my HJ. Even owned a Stout for a little while. In the end, I just built a stakebed.

If anyone is interested in that Stout bed/tailgate in my first post let me know. The Junkyard is in Southern Az and the bed looked to be in good shape, I didnt notice any rust or dents but I dint check it over thoroughly as there was so much other neat stuff there...They were only asking $200 for the bed an tailgate.
