I finally ended up with three in each pack from a 2.5 pinnicle lift on a alum 40 body. It has been about 2 years with no problem. Bill

Jason, I had a set of "Rugged Trail" 3 leafs in my first 40. You can tell by the orange spring bushings compared to the red ones used by Rancho if there still in the springs.
The best use for these old 3-leaf springs is to fab up a nice monster sized crossbow that can shoot driveshafts through 1/4 inch plate steel.

Im not kidding! Im going to build one up and show you guys.
I may use more than one spring for more velocity.
Chopped driveshaft from a duece with the splines sharpened to a point.

I never had problems getting the old 3 leaf Ranchos to flex on my junk because of the weight of all the spare parts and gear in the truck! I actually managed to snap one of the main leafs because of the load I carry on board.

Not as useful for a rock crawling rig as for a long range expedition rig. My .02

Didn't Burbank Spring make 3-leaf springs for 40s?

Jason , if you want em I got a whole set , 3 leaf , 9mm leaf each , I ran em soa on my 40 with 36's and made it thru rubicon 3 times with no issues and just took em off for the new alcans. stiff , yes , work , did for me , worst part was they wasted bushings almost every outing. and they are hell on mounts and shackles , they twist everything pretty good.

Thiose are Rancho springs. I have heard they are stiff, but they can be loosned up in tiome. I mean you are in the desert. Slap them under there, and go do some high speed runs through the desert.

Or another thing you can do is use the main leaf, and then swap in some stock parts. Make a sping set that works for you.
