New 40

Just when you think you know every Cruiser in your town...saw an add on our radio website for a 73 fj40. It has plenty of holes, but not too many to keep me from buying for $1,200. Bonus...it came with a factory PTO/winch and an extra motor.
I'm liking the orange color.

You don't see many orange ones around usually. Nice score.

does it have inner paded door panels that look like this?

If so its one of the 40's that was diverted from another market(guessing SA) into the US to meet the high demand for the 40;s in the mid 70's

You have to love the exposed gears on the door handle and the lock.

orange

I have been pulling off every known additional bolt and screw that has been attached to this thing over the last 30 years. It really looks pretty good once the extra set of lights bolted to the roof, jerry can holders bolted to vent door, cb/antenna on the ceiling, and it must be thirty screw-in eyebolts for PO's curtins.
It sure looks like this color is original, although it is not the burnt orange I put on my 55. Haven't had time to look, since I also had to move my engine hoist and bring along the extra engine that was included.

Just checked AutoColorLibrary and see no orange Toyo color in 73 that looks close. May have to look a little deeper.
