drivetrain opinion

I am planing on dueing and engine swap in my 79fj40. I am wondering if I put a 350 tbi with and sm465 and np205 if that would be a good set up? Is their any better options, and what would you guys do?

Thats a stout drivetrain, but the np205 doesnt have a very good low range. Maybe think of doing a dana300 or a 203/205 doubler depending on your wheelbase.

Well I plan on stretching the rearend 15inches with some 1/4 ellipitic springs. Heard the dana 300 was pretty good too. Would I be able to run an atlas 4.3?

Atlas to 465 or 420 share the same adapter, the dana 300 one from AA. For a stick set up behind a tbi the only downfalls I 've seen with the doubler's is they bind up and make it harder to do front digs. If you go 465/atlas your done. So your shooting for 110-112wb sounds perfect.

no room for a doubler in a fj40 without stretching it ALOT.. i would do the atlas if you have the funds, or the dana 300 with the lomax 4:1 gearset. keep in mind youll have to do a centerd rear diff for any of these. the cruiser rear is offset and you cant do a offset driveline (reliabley) you can do mini-truck rear for cheap or hybrid a cruiser center with mini-truck tubes/axles as well... either way is cost effective or go dana 60, ford 9" or ???? you could do the 205 but you wont have any super low gearing options yet.. jb conversions is working on a set for the 205 but i dont think its out yet...

You can run the sm465 with the orion and not have to change the axles, right?
