MTRS vs. Toyos
I've managed to find places that have both of these tires in 315/75/16. I can get the Toyos for about $120 more. Are they worth it? One other concern. They are quite a bit heavier tire. Which is great for on the trail but probably not so great running down the interstate at 75mph. Those of you who have run both, do you notice any difference in power between the two tires. I guess I should also say the $120 more isn't all tires. I'd be getting center caps and new lugnuts for $120 more in addition to the new tires. I'm leaning towards the Toyos even though I'm a cheapskate most of the time. They are going on my FZJ80. I'm buying tomorrow.

They are not worth the extra money, yet I would pay it because I like them better.
Knowing you, you will make the best decision and in this case it should be fiscal, not physical.

Ha! This one probably isn't going to be fiscal at all. Since I'm already pissing my wife off by taking off perfectly good tires with 1600 miles on them and losing a ton of money on them to do this and then picking wheels that she thinks are too boring I may as well spend more $ to make it worthwhile. I've never bought new wheels and tires at the same time. Heck I've never bought a new set of wheels. I'm such a cheap bastard. I'm going to call and get the TOYOs. I'll suffer with the heavy weight of them. They should withstand the lava rock better. Or at least I hope so. Plus they are almost a 1/2" taller. So maybe it is a physical decision and not financial.

Good call IMO. A good wheeling buddy of mine is running those, well 37s on an EB and they stick great to the rocks and are very very durrable. With that said MTR are very tried and true. But the toyos are making a neme for them selves

eric V I feel like I haven't seen you around in ages, hope you are doing well. I thought I saw somewhere that you'll be at Moab this year "definetely"? Cool!
The only thing I don't like about the Toyos is they are the ghey tire of choice for all the dipshits with their F350's with 8" lifts in 37's around here. And that they only make a 13.5 width for a 15" 35" which sort of blows. I heard they are a harder rubber which makes them last a lot longer, so I bet they don't hook up nearly as well as the MTR's. But just a guess...

I've been living in front of the computer. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with Cruisers or fun. July 5th I regain my freedom. That is my last day of class for my masters. Oct. 04-July 06 is long time without much play. Even last year at Cruise Moab I had to check in to my classes to keep up with work. By some weird coincidence we have spring break the week of Cruise Moab so it is only taking off of work. It will be another mad dash. Tuesday night after work leave. Pull in about 2am. Off to Rusty Nail right away early Wed. AM. I'm hoping to do Pritchett. I want to run Moab Rim at night. Then back to Idaho Sunday am early. I'm going to sneak the Rubithon in too. I was supposed to be done with my masters by then but they put the spring break in when they changed the O6 schedule. So that is going to be a challenge. I might have to leave early to get back in communication so I don't fail. Or somehow fake it?
I'm excited about the tires. I think the Toyos might have equal traction to the MTRs due to the siping??? Anyway, My bank account has been depleted. Eric V.

They are on a semi coming from the PRK to Idaho. I'll post a picture when I get them on. I hate dealing with 4wp but I managed to get the best price from them. It took 3 different phone calls to get a price that worked. Nobody local could even get them.
