looking for spider and planet (idler) gears
I am looking for spiders and planet (idler) gears from a rear (or a front too I suppsoe) 3rd for a 1973 (or compatable year) FJ40 axle. Anyone have them left over after installing lockers?

Excellent timing for you. I am packing up to move, and I think I have a set on the work bench I was about to throw out. I'll confirm tomorrow. You just handle S&H and they will be yours.

Got a set if green does not. PM me if you need. Are you in on the fender deal ? My memory is bad and I do not have the list in front of me.

get ready for them Georg. Oh yeah, see what the shipping will be to Stockton, CA 95207 (I think). I'll have them shipped to Georg (orangefj45) so he can have them welded up. |

fwiw, the usps has a couple of different "flat rate priority mail" boxes that they'll ship anywhere in the usa for $8.10 as long as the items fit in the box they supply and it weighs less than 70lbs.

I think Georg has me covered on the spiders as he PM'd me last night and said he has them laying around . He is going to weld them up for me so if he already has them, I probably will not need yours. It will save me a little in the overall cost if I just use his. Thanks so much for taking the time. I sent a PM.Dan |

Let me check with mike. He just pulled his for his lock right and we have the same axle years. I'll see if he can remember if they were coarse. For those that are watching this and if you can chime in, my rear axle is out of a 8/73 FJ40. Anyone know whithout having to pull the cover? But if I have to do that Georg, my rig will be down for a while next week as I get set up for Brian's steering stuff and I can pull the cover if need be and count the splines for ya. Thanks.

Not a problem. I am always willing to help out with stuff I am not using, but have laying around.

OK guys. I think I figured out I need fine spline spider gears following SOR's info page. They state that:#15 RDF S/GEAR-1968-8/88(FINESPLINE)
Since I have an 8/73 build date on my stock rear axle in my fj40, I must need the fine spline spiders. The 58-67 cruisers use the coarse spline. Anyone disagree? |

it certainly SHOULD have fine spline gears and rear shafts in it. however, it's a 40 years old vehicle that has gone thru numerous owners so you never can be 100% sure.
