Fiberglass Top question

So I picked up a 74FJ40 from Mantis a couple weeks ago, got a nice 2F swapped in, and was down at the hoard looking around for parts, the only top I have with a rust free drip rail is a 63 with the taller roof and the vent window, will it swap over onto the 78 era sides?
I have the notion of using the 78 sides, this 63 top, the 74 rear hatch, fold down tailgate, and the 74 doors........combine them for the best IMHO combo..........

I've been told the tops don't interchange.

I measured an early (64ish) top and a later (76ish) top and they are not the same. I don't have the measurements, but one was wider than the other.

I was hoping to put a really nice 76ish top on my older sides... nada.

Phil

For Sale - 76ish top (fiberglass only) perfect condition w/headliner...

Domek are you hunting the sides and all or just the fiberglass top portion?

It's in very good condition with the headliner still in it. I would like to get $250.
Maybe someone can take to the Roundup?

Shipping would be a bitch and I don't know if it would survive very well.

Send me a PM.

Phil

There are several significant changes between the 63 and 78 including the front moulding over the windshield frame, the fact that the 63 doors closed further into the top and that the rear had no reinforcement brace between the two side panels above the doors.

I have a 77 roof in front of the shop with rust-free driprails that someone put a bunch of extra fiberglass onto. For you Butch, the price is FREE!

If'n dhondagod had taken it back to Fresno when I told him to, it wouldn't be any trouble to get it to you next week either. Now he's gonna have to make a detour!

Mark do you have another one?

I am looking for one fiberglass top too, I have the side panels from a 72, the tub is a 76 and I have a the 79 doors.

I need the fiberglass Top and Ambi doors to complete the hard top.

Note: I am going to the round up

Thanks

J.P.

Mark never mine. I had previously ask to Daryl/wannabecruiser to find me one.

he said he's got it.
