What master to use 4wdisc TLC

I'm building a 69 Cruiser for a Bro,We're sprung over,got cross over,soon to have power steering. Did Toyota pu front discs,and chevy rear discs [monte calipers,1/2 ton rotors,JT brackets].So I've searched around and found lots of info on the swaps,but little on master cylinders. So my question is; What master cylinders should you use?? Any of them fit in the stock mount on fire wall??
How about power, easily possible??Or pain in the a$$??
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Pm Sixgun, most guys use the Supra booster but he used a Chevy i believe.....you should check it out!

I have a 44/cruiser disc brake in the front and the monte carlo disc in the back. I use the stock 72 master and I didnt take the little valves out either. It stops on a dime!

You could try the 80 series master. SOR advertises a non-ABS master for '93 and later, but I don't know if it's for rear drum or 4 wheel disc. 80's in USA with 4 wheel discs have ABS.

the problem with early cruisers that did not have power brakes is the pedal travel is just different enough to cause a kind of long stroke when power is added, and the firewall is different, but i dont know the details. the chevy master is from an S-10 i believe and is used for non-power braking. there was a thread on re-working the firewall some time ago on just this topic, you could search for that maybe.
if you do go with booster, get the mini truck one, and all the toy masters bolt right up. the supra with 4 wheel disc is bolt on no mods, but you can get a bigger bore with the mini truck v-6 master. just take out the res. valve for rear drum.

oh erik, your brakes may stop good, but they are always dragging, those res. valves are there to hold some pressure in the lines, which is part of the self adjust feature, you would do yourself a favor the remove them.

I put a 1967 Ford f250 master cylinder into my (auto) tranny Cruiser and my Dad's (manual) tranny Cruiser. The m/s fit with stock clutch cylinder and has enough push for 4 wheel discs. You can even use the stock Cruiser pushrod although it needs to be shortened. I just cut off the last inch of thread, took off the lock nut and screwed the brake pedal fork all the way down till it stops. This method will engage the m/s 2" from the floor and lock up all four tires 1" from the floor. I'm running chevy discs up front and FJ60 drums in the rear. My Dad's is 80's Cruiser disc up front and older 40's (2 slave cylinders per side) drums in the rear. The ford m/s works outstanding in both vehicles and does not take up much room (only a little inner apron trimming is needed to install)
you can pick one up at any auto parts store for around $40.00.
ooh, it's a manual pusher so there are no nasty suprises when your carb floods and kills your engine.

I have had my rear disc for 4+ yrs now, and still hardly any wear on the pads. Everything is not 100% true all the time.

thats true, just like how many believe you lose your brakes with a booster if the engine dies, i have yet to loose brakes when my engine stalls, but power steering is another story.

I hear ya! I did the steering pump upgrade and it had so much pressure that I actually twisted the output of the steering box and blew the pump in one shot! I had to finish the trail and drive home without power steering. That sucked!

yeah ive heard those stories !! all i did was the #4 washer thing to my pump, works better but still no hydro assisit,,,,,,

Danny Warden - Wardens in Placerville- sells an adapter that comes with a new push rod to convert no power brakes to power brakes. It uses the stock crusier booster. It is a clean adapter and saves you cutting your firewall up.

Mine is the S-10 M/C, with LC discs up front and Monte calipers in the rear.. Has plenty of power, provided you put plenty of leg into it... I don't like it. If I have to winch someone, I have to secure the rear of the FJ to something, or the cruzah gets pulled towards the winchee. I'm only 175-180lbs, I just can't put enough ass onto the pedal to hold it.
