Exhaust

I need to move my mufflers from outside of the frame under the body to inside the frame (tired of staighting the pipes after every trip) I would like to go with a 3" single to a muffler then out with two 2". I was thinking about exiting them between the frame and body at the rear dose anybody have picture of how they did this or have other ideas. I've searched and found a few but I fugure you guys must have a few more picture for me to look at.

3" head pipe is onverkill for a 350. I would run a 2 1/2" to the muffler and twin 2" out behind the wheels. I am told my crossover headpipe is here, so now I go to the shop to get the rest of the system bent up. I'm going 2 1/2" all the way out with single exit at stock location.

I agree that a 3" on a 350 is a little overkill for now but I have a 400 that will be going in shortly unless I can find a cheap 455 then I think it would be usefull. My biggest question is has anybody tried to exit the pipes between the body and frame by just trimming a little of the body seam at the back corners it looks like a 2" pipe might just make it. Pointed down at the back corners there wouldn't be anything to crush.

I put a 300 HP GM small block in my 40 and ran dual 2 1/2 pipes all the way out through flowmasters. Got sick of all the noise so I switched to a 2 1/4 Y pipe and single 2 1/4 through one turbo muffler. Made just as much power and had more low end. The hot rod mags have been saying for years that people put too large of exhuast on their cars and it's not needed. You can't believe all that you read though but in my case it was true.


I even think that it sounded cooler with the smaller pipes. Sounded more like an old muscle car instead of something with a hole in the exhuast.
