Early FJ-40 Con-Ferr full roll cage?

I have just acquired a full roll cage for my 71' FJ-40 and at first I thought it was a home fabbed unit, or maybe a smittybilt/home welded cage. Once I got it home I noticed a Con-Ferr tag on the front widshield bar, and it also has a DOT number stamped on it. Is this a pretty safe cage? It is made from 2" tube and seems pretty strong. I was going to use it temp. until I could get a new cage, but if it is safe I will go ahead and fab frame tie-ins and run it. What do you veterans that remember these cages recommend?

ConFerr is a well-known brand....but not for their rollcages.

IMO, don't ask what a 'veteran' thinks. Use your own common sense. If it looks like a square now, then there's a good chance it will look like a parallelogram in a hard roll. Rollcage desgns have improved dramatically in the DECADES since ConFerr dabbled with them.

FWIW, I run a ConFerr cage anyways.
