Fab Lesson Please

Don-I have hesitated asking this for fear of being laughed at but....When you plate the frame as you did earlier in this build are you cutting the 1/4" plate to match the height of the frame rails? In addition, when you wrapped the frame for the shackle hanger and the shock tower with plate are you using 1/4" or thinner material? Are you heating and bending it or using a press?

The build looks great...As allways.

Always thought a tube rear axle gussets was cool, could not wrap my head around how to plate it and not look awfull......

That is one of the sweeter rear axles I have seen in a long time utilizing factory chunks...

Thanks! what I use and how I make my frame plates really depends on the Veh. and the application. On Minnis, I tend to make the plates taller cuz the frames are sooo small. on cruisers, I hold them off a 1/4" or so. Use 1/4" plate on link jobs, outboards and scoutbox applications,.... Use 3/16 to just clean up SOA's and/or tube towers.

the spring hanger "wrap" was 1/8th and done with a press break and a BFH.

and sorry for not getting back to ya dood, been WAY swamped!

(and I NEVER answer phones or return calls)

Started out as an 82in x 16ft 10k equipment trailer

2x6x3/16 channel to widen the deck out to 94in.
3/16 plate over and along the side of the fenders

If it doesn't work Greenhorn, Matto and I will beat on it a little more
