44/60 or stock axles

I am at the point where I tore my axle apart to clean it up (I want all the crap off this thing). I decided that now would be a good itme to throw some better gears, shafts, locker in there. The problem is that I started thinking about it last night. Since I am starting from the beginning, would I be better off getting a 44 and a 60 and building those, or would I be better off building my stock crap. All of you that built the hell out of your stock axles, are you happy you did it, or do you wish you just wheeled your setup stock (I can weld the rear axle right now), and saved money for a set of 60's or a 44 anda 60?

And for you guys that say just wheel it... I am doing that. This summer hopefully. But I also want to go prepared.

Dima

How big are your jackstands?

I'd just put a fine spline dif in the rear and minitruck knuckles and birfs up front and run it till it breaks.

cheers-
Dustin

Dima, for the cost of poly's chromo rear axles and some long's it is hard to beat. Then you save big on brake and d-line mods and parts on the trail should be easier to come by.

Longfields, and upgrade everything else as needed. Like Knuckle studs, hub studs, course spline diffs, etc. You should be good with a set of Longs, and Aisin hubs.

But wait, Georg is right, you were not going to tear this rig apart. Me thinks you like wrenching more than wheeling. How long does the berry vodka stay good ? I just found a bottle.

Deena,

Listen to Georg. Step away from the case of vodka.

hshahahahahaha It will stay good for years. We just found a bottle that was about 30 years old the other day. My wifes grandmother made it and forgot about it. now THAT stuff was AMAZING Cherry flavored stuff.

I do like wrenching... But primarily I like being able to go out and not be stuck out there. My biggest concern is my wife wheelin this thing and breaking it and feeling horrible abot it. I would rather wait and have it built right than hammer it together just to have it break.

hahahaha... Its not even on stands right now... It is on the floor.

Going to stick with the stock stuff for now. I want to wheel this summer. gears and a welded rear diff or a lockright for the rear for now will do it.
