33's +

I'm looking to get a 4cly reg cab taco, I would like to put on 33's what would need to be upgraded, axle shafts, regear, steering? What lift would you recommend? If there is a lot to upgrade I think I might just scrap the hole IFS system and through some leaks up in front and run 35's. What company's make SAS that use leafs I keep finding 4-links. Thanks for the help, and Yes it will be wheeled hard.

If your looking to keep it stock and run 33. You need a RevTec 3' lift. Pretty cheap and will allow you to run 33. If your looking to do sas then check out these guys.http://www.bentup.com/saskits.html. They got it all for your sas.

You might want to do some reading and searching on Tacoma Territory. There is more IFS information about Tacos over there.

Yeah do some research on ttora
but mostly to run 33's with a 4cyl you will need to regear.
As far as lift goes, it depends on if you don't mind doing a little fender trimming a 2.5in lift will work. Also look into 33x10.5 or 285/75/ r16's
They are 33's but are narrow so you don't have to worry about hitting the frame and some of the clearence issues.

There is no LEAF kit to SAS a tacoma persay you basically just have to pull parts from different places.

But check out TTORA they got lots of SAS taco's over there.

im running 33x12.50s on a 3" lift. i tubbed my firewall and trimmed the bottom corners of my fenders and i have no rubbing even under full compression and the wheels turned all the way. if you dont want to do alot of trimming look into 33x10.50s and those wont rub nearly as much.

i still have the stock 4.10s and its perfectly fine to me. i could always use lower gears on the trails but as a dd it works out good. but if you do regear 4.56 gears are good for a dd. also you wont have to make any upgrades to the axles or anything.

If you are going to keep it SAS I think you'll need at least 4" of lift and some trimming. Yes, you will need to regear unless you have all afternoon to get away from a stop light. Make that suspension lift. It seems that everyone who puts on a body lift eventually comes to regret it. The rear axle is OK but there is nothing you can do with the front CV axles. Just get spares and get good at swapping them. After you get the hang of it, it's a 30 min deal.

I tried CV Unlimited and busted both of em in a single afternoon on the first trail.

Personally, I say to keep it low and sane if you're gonna actually wheel and stay IFS. I ran 31 X 12.50's with 2.5" of lift for years before I finally chopped the stock suspension off. A crawl box and lockers will get you a lot of places even on 31" tires unless you're a mudder, then a crawl box isn't gonna do anything for you.

There are lots of leaf sprung SAS Tacomas out there and the brackets are available from a lot of folks. Bent Up, All Pro etc.

I haven't seen many four link kits if any but I have seen some three link kits out there. Most folks seem to be content with rolling their own. I went with a radius arm setup for a combo street/trail truck and I'm still tickled shit-less with it.

I run 33x12.50's with pretty much no rubbing even at full stuff. I have Donahoe ext. coilovers in front, custom Alcans at ~ 2.5" with Bilstein 5150s in the rear, 1" 4crawler body lift, and some trimming. The 4crawler body lift is the only decent one out there and I wouldnt recommend going more than 1". Some people hate them, but I have been wheeling the hell out of mine with no problems whatsoever. Like Dick said, dual lockers, Marlincrawler, and 33's and my truck wheels everywhere I need it to go with great reliability and decent street mannors.
