4" Lift Kit
I currently have 33x11.50x16 with a 3" lift. They rub on my frame. A 4x4 shop told me a 4" lift would cure my problem and I could run 33x12.50x15, since I hate my OEM wheels and I would like to get aftermarket wheels. What do you guys think, will the 4" lift solve my problem? The only 4" lift kit I found for my 2004 Tacoma 4x4 TRD V6 is the Procomp 4" which does not require the crossmember to be cut... Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would run rims with a better backspacing... like a 3.5 to get them away from the frame. Should help, but may cause problems in other areas.

Check out ttora.com lots of people run 33s with 3in lift. The cheaper way is some aftermarket rims that will just move the tire from the frame. or look for some 33x10.5s
Good luck

i have a 2.5 inch lift and run 285/75/16's on black steelies with 3.75 backspace. minimal rubbing, no rubbing on the frame at all. if you are 4wd and ADD you shouldnt raise it much more without a drop bracket...but those are gay.

First off, find a new shop.
Second, stock backspacing is 4.5" which is very close to the frame. Your front tire will rub the frame nomatter what with 33's, but it will rub a whole lot less if you get some wheels with a 3.75" backspacing. With the right backspacing and some trimming you should be able to run 33's with 3" lift and not too much rubbing off road. |
