My 97 Tacoma SAS Build.. New Dovetail Pics
Here's my build...
1997 Tacoma 2.7 regular cab bobbed 13" in rear with 20" dovetail. Front doved 19" 38" TSL's on 16x8 MT Front: 3/4 ton high pinion 44, 5.38 gears, ARB locker, Chomolly inners with Superjoints, 4" TG springs Rear: Dana 60, Full Spool, 5.38 gears, Disk brake conversion, 4" TG springs.. (Now on set number 4) Full inner cage with half hidden exo all tied together. Front and Rear bumpers, all the usuall trimming, Warn 8000 winch, 15" Rancho 9000 Pro Series shocks with on board adjustment. On board air with Tank, bed mounted radiator. Id love to take that damn bd lift off.. My problem is the inner cage and winch?? Its almost to big of a hassle.. As it sitts right now Im 26 1/2" ground to frame. It has settled a ton from when I first built it. It was at 28 3/4"!!

Here are a couple shts of the latest project... The Dove Tail. With working tailgate!! 22" skinnier.

looks sick. how do you get away with driving that thing on the street with a dove tail though? maybe the police have better things to do in washington than pull people over for tires sticking out too far like they do here in california.

Man that rig is sick, I don't live to far from you and have a couple buddy's that live in Yakima. Maybee I'll be able to check this thing out in person some day. How hard was the dovetail?

Not to hard... The hardest part was just figuring out how much to cut.. Other than that I didnt run into any big problems.. My trucks allmost allways down at trucks etc. in yakima. Swing in and check it out sometime... Or better yet we'll have to go up wheelin sometime..

Fawking sick taco. That has got to be my favorite by far. The dovetail is sick. My faimily lives over in Winlock, Wa. The next time i'm out that way i'll have to stop by and check it out.

I'm curious, when you dovetailed it, did you cut the supports under the bed? If so, what did you do about the body mounts? Did you say you cut 22inches out of the back? Also, how do you open the tail gate with out the latch?
